Second, accuracy and precision are not the same thing. Precision means to hit around where you're trying to hit. In ep4, it appears that the stormtroopers were trying to take out the treads on the Sandcrawler, to keep it from moving. Accuracy, is hitting the same spot, or within a certain area, over and over. There was probably a platoon of StormTroopers, all shooting at the SandCrawler, one of them is bound to hit the tread. Besides, I don't think even a Stormtrooper could miss a Sandcrawler, that things frickin' huge!

The reason for the helmets is the same reason for the armour. So that they all look the same. A huge, faceless, indeterminably different army. You kill one, one that looks EXACTLY like it takes it's place. As for the Clonetroopers versus the Stormtroopers, the CloneTrooper's often used metallic ammo, like the Imperial Repeater, because blaster weapons are "harder to aim due to the inherent instability of plasma bolts". As for the armour, the CloneTroopers have better armour than the StormTroopers. CloneTroopers armour has less mobility, and is very uncomfortable, but is strong and can actually withstand damage. StormTrooper armour was changed to make it more mobile, comfortable, but at a cost of less protection. Not like a StormTrooper or two matter anyway, Palpy boy's got plenty.

Actually, you have that reversed. :D Accuracy is actually hitting what you're trying to hit. Precision is hitting in the same place consistently. For example: If a stormtrooper shot at Luke three times, and those shots hit in the same place, those shots would be very precise, even if they completely missed him.

Perhaps then, Tuskens would have shot up the entire Sandcrawler, but the Imperials shot up only the treads, showing precision.
