Alejnu Posted September 10, 2002 Posted September 10, 2002 Sorry if a thread like this allready exists, but the search function is disabled and I can't scroll through 100 of pages. To the point: I'm running JK2 on an athlon xp1600+ with 128mb sdram, a geforce2 mx400 and so forth... I'm now using win xp and my internet connection is dsl (aol with flatrate). Now whenever I join a server I have a ping like 999(!!!) and every second it says "connection interrupted". I guess it must be because of xp since everything worked perfectly using win 98. Any ideas? thx
Sith Maximus Posted September 16, 2002 Posted September 16, 2002 Windows XP is like win2000, it is VERY memory hungry. Your 128mb of sdram is NOT up to the task that you want it to do. I suggest a dual boot. Now that you have xp on the machine make a new hard drive partition and install 98 n it. Play your games from this os and leave xp to do your everyday stuff. Or get a sh*tload of ram. I would say 768 if you use sdram, but a board upgrade would bve better. I run XP pro on a 1333/AbitKR7A-raid/512ddr/Raid 0/Geforce 3 TI200 system and get 120fps in game while i run my server (on the same machine). I could NEVER do that with 128mb of ram, in fact I do not think it would even start the game. Good luck!
