Kurgan
My last resort was that I was going to just burn everything in safe mode.. only problem was, no cd-rom support! I did figure out how to get network support in safemode, but it wasn't needed, because.... I realized that the option for PnP auto was not "enabled" in my bios. Fixed it, and boom, everything works again! Don't I feel like a n00b! Thanks to a friend for the suggestion. ; ) And thanks guys, for being helpful! NerfYoda
w00t! Glad it works again. Heh. PnP was the last place I'd have looked.
Kurgan
But the victory was short-lived.... I discovered, upon booting up after awhile (after my initial elation died down) that my Soundcard (Soundblaster Live! Value) according to device manager, was having problems. No problem, I thought, just reinstall the drivers... but the SBLive drivers said that there was no sound hardware installed! So I rebooted, and boom.... got the stupid VXD and fatal exception 0E errors again! So what I've done now is simply removed my sound card entirely while I back everything up. Everything ELSE works.... Here was the recurring error btw: Fatal Exception 0E at 0028:C0047A8F (other times the last digits were C2A31710) ?.VXD VFAT (01) + 00005AB7 The "?" represents something I scribbled down but couldn't make out later, ; p
NerfYoda
Heheh that ? would narrow down the cause of the error a bunch. But yeah best to do now is remove the offending cards, backup your stuff, fdisk, format & reinstall. Hope you didnt have anywhere to go for a while.
