doug088 Posted September 13, 2002 Posted September 13, 2002 I would really appretiate some help here. I just payed $100 for this game and I would really like it to actually play! I installed it correctly and all and when i went to play it it says open gl subsystem not found?! I looked at the troubleshooting guide and it said to upgrade my graphic card so i did that and it didnt work. What do I do ???? I have Windows XP Professional 667 MhZ Pentium III 128 Mb SDRam Nvidia TNT2 M64 Graphic Card PLEASE HELP
Deetox187 Posted September 14, 2002 Posted September 14, 2002 go to http://www.nvidia.com and download the latest drivers, that will fix your problem. But i'm sorry to say JK2 will run like absolute crap on that card you have, my other box has one of those and its one of the slowest cards i've seen, even a voodoo2 is faster.
Pa3PyX Posted September 14, 2002 Posted September 14, 2002 Actually, my system is worse: PII-350 with Voodoo 3; it does run like crap often, but when no one is in the game and in spectator mode, I actually get at least 20 fps everywhere on that Nar Shaddaa Streets level (which is the slowest map in the multiplayer part). The thing is, this game is not nearly as dependant on the power of your graphics card, than on the power of your CPU. 667 MHz should handle it pretty decently. My friend has Athlon 850 MHz and TNT2, and he is getting 60 fps where I am getting 20. That is a full TNT2 though, not a castrated M64; but M64 is worse only with respect to its fill rate. That is, if you play in 1280x1024x32 bit mode, then yes, it will be slow. But if you switch to 640x480x16bpp, it should in any case be playable.
Deetox187 Posted September 15, 2002 Posted September 15, 2002 Oh for sure it is playable, my other box is a Duron 600 with the TNT2 m64. At 640x480x16bpp it will acheive 20-30fps most of the time, but since i'm used to playing at 60+fps i consider 20-30fps to be pretty slow. Why don't you upgrade your comp Pa3PyX? hardware is pretty cheap nowadays, hell i'm a brokeass and even i manage to upgrade my stuff once a year.
doug088 Posted September 16, 2002 Author Posted September 16, 2002 I already told u fellas that I downloaded that thing from Nvidia.com and it doenst do anything... Do you know if you upgrade from P.3 to P.4 you need a new motherboard... PS you still havent told me how to fix the problem....
Deetox187 Posted September 16, 2002 Posted September 16, 2002 Yes i did, its very odd that the drivers from the nvidia site didn't fix that, the opengl subsystem error is VERY common and it is ALWAYS fixed by updating your drivers. All i can suggest is to go over to http://www.guru3d.com and try some of the unnoficial detonator drivers they have there, that is what i'm using with my TNT2 m64 and it has no opengl problems with JK2. And yes i believe you do need a new motherboard for a P4, but i only buy AMD so i don't know for sure.
teleguy Posted September 16, 2002 Posted September 16, 2002 Since new drivers didn't fix your problem you should try http://www.uq.net.au/~zzmbisho/how_to_fix-OpenGL-Subsystem.html .
