Proper Mirrored textures

I've been trying to make a mirrored floor like in the demo level (near the end of the demo where you fight the reborn) I've tried everything I know about shaders and tried using the *portal* surface name to no avail. Can somebody please help me as I can't find any tutorials on how to do this anywhere.

And yes, I do mean a reflective floor, but not the dodgy refection on some levels like on the first level kejim base. Which is the vaders chamber duel map. I havent heard of it. Hopefully its the same refective surface that I want so you nice people know what Im talkin about.

Did you put a misc_portal_surface near the mirror entity within 64 map units ?

 

EDIT : I saw the pictures. You can do it but you need enough light from the ceiling to make the room show up on the floor clearly.

I'll try to make a mirror example like that from scratch. I'll post the link here.

Yes I did put a misc_portal_surface within the 64 map units. Do you just put this entity near the surface anywhere or will it matter where abouts you put it?

 

And yes, I may not have enough light. Should I put the light near the surface I want reflected or near the reflective surface itself.

PP is the portal surface.

Yes you'd need to put some light entites near the surface that you want to be reflected. The mirror effect uses some textures and the reflection itself is a bit dark, so you need some light entities to enlight the reflection. I really dont know how to make the reflection more clear.
