C'jais
Having a cat is like owning a lava lamp: They have no real use, it's just an item you own because it's chic. Owning a dog is like having another person in the house, just one that doesn't speak in our language. -Dogs, don't stink, neither do cats. -You can pet them both. -They both need to be taken care of, but a cat is not as dependant. -A dog can protect you, a cat can kill birds for you. -Both animals are emotionally shallow, seen with our eyes. -You can get dogs in boatloads of varieties. What's a tubcat? Anyway, cats are practically untrainable compared to dogs. While a cat may easily scare away a big dog, it certainly won't have the same effect on humans as a dobermann has. And let's not forget that dogs can be trained to aid blind people, assist the police etc.

Just another point in deciding for or against cats... Well, I brought up training issue because many people feel better about having "something that you can mold and shape to better fit your needs"... A cat pretty much just comes "as is", without much room for improvement. And a cat cannot guard you very well if it haven't been taught to do so. Reb Starblazer
Dog, definitely. I've always hated cats. Actually, my friends cat was about as big as that fat cat there, which is pretty disturbing. I seriously don't see how anyone could let that happen, wouldn't the cat hit about 50 pounds, and the owner suddenly realizes "Wow, my cat's really frickin' fat! Maybe I should do something about that..."
