I'm sure, Max 5 came with a similar set of help files along with tutorials that came with Max 4. Use those.

Yes the plugins that work for 4 also work for 5. Its one of the main things discreet advertise's about max 5 VERY FEW new features....Should of been called max 4.8

download the JK2 tools, with them comes an XSI importer, put it in your plugins directory.

If you need the manual call discreet, I am sure for a couple of bucks they would gladly give you a new manual.

I don't think people here are gonna scan a whole manual for you. Just call discreet with your s/n and I am sure they will help you out. They need to imporve there rep...CASUE THEY ARE DYING MAN!!! however thats a whole new story.

did i hear someone say that max 5 has VERY FEW NEW FEATURES!?! have you seen the discreet site? i cant wait to get my hands on a copy of max 5, it looks really really cool!

 

come on, a new ray tracing engine allowing caustics, indirect lighting, advanced anti-aliasing and much more, new animation systems, new simulation tools, plus heaps more!

 

im trying not to sound like an advertisement, but im really into the 3d graphics scene(i do 3d modelling/rendering as a hobby) and max 5 looks like a great alternative to Maya, which is hopeless to learn unless you go to unversity (which i do, but we dont learn Maya, we learn Max)

 

and also, if the max4 plugins work with max5, cool
