The Truthful Liar Posted September 25, 2002 Posted September 25, 2002 Well I'm back again! :D My duel egyptian map is finally finished and a beta (It's going to be called that because in my eyes it'll never be perfect) will be released sometime this week. NRG is working on and will be releasing a major duel map pack hopefully in time for Xmas so keep an eye on our forums, http://www.nrgteam.com/nrgforums Enough of the the pleasantries, time for pics Inner Courtyard: http://www.nrgteam.com/images_egypt/egypt1.jpg One outer section: http://www.nrgteam.com/images_egypt/egypt2.jpg Another shot: http://www.nrgteam.com/images_egypt/egypt2.jpg This is a basic start and so far only about 1/8 has been completed so please forgive the plainess of the pics

The Truthful Liar Posted September 30, 2002 Author Posted September 30, 2002 Well due to the lack of responses my only guess is that my map astounded you guys that you forgot to hit the reply button......................................................................... Well I've got some updated shots on the FFA map, here goes: http://www.nrgteam.com/previews_ffa_egypt.htm Comments? Suggestions? Anything most appreciated
The Truthful Liar Posted September 30, 2002 Author Posted September 30, 2002 Wow absolutely no one else cares about this... o..ka...y... *walks away silent*
inbredyokel Posted September 30, 2002 Posted September 30, 2002 There are those of us who care...they just appear to be silent at the moment. Let me just say that this looks like a very badass map and I cannot wait to try it out. One thing I would suggest is adding a few platforms or rock ruins to the indoor area on the bottom of your screenshots page. It would help make for some pretty cool duels on the crossing catwalks above.
Grets Sirob Posted September 30, 2002 Posted September 30, 2002 Dang, I haven't seen these yet, how come you didn't post at nrg first? I feel rejected, oh well, who cares? Yeah, ok. That looks sweet, first thing came out of my mouth: Sweet...
starunner Posted October 1, 2002 Posted October 1, 2002 This is looking really good, there's some nice architecture on display there. If your Egyptian Duel map is anything to go by, I'm sure it'll be amazing when you've finished. Great work.
Eldritch Posted October 1, 2002 Posted October 1, 2002 I like the textures, but they look more like modern Egyptian than ancient Egyptian. The ancient Egyptians used a LOT of white limestone and gold, and they also liked bright, vibrant colors (your blue is good, but they liked other colors as well). And perhaps some hieroglyphics here and there could add to the Egypt-like experience. I'll try and scrounge up some websites with hieroglyphics you could make textures from. -Anakin
Wes Marrakesh Posted October 1, 2002 Posted October 1, 2002 Dang!!! :jaw1: nice work! And Grets, I thought you left..

Could you perhaps draw up a few lines with mspaint or such so I can have a clearer idea as to where these "rock ruins" should go? Also, please note that whenever I work on a map I usually only use a 3 color/texture scheme and caulk. This is not close to a final cut nor will I even use some of the textures shown, they're only used to give a generalized idea of what to expect to come. Some hieroglyphics would certainly be great to use, my pc completely died this prior week leaving me with less than 10% of my remaining work saved (on to as many floppies as I could - yes very sad indeed), so I probably won't be working on anything else except for the map untill I get my new computer. Thanks for your input and Cheers everyone
inbredyokel Posted October 1, 2002 Posted October 1, 2002 Hmm..I guess those catwalks are a little higher than I thought. I had meant placing some broken pillars or something around the pool, but they'd have to reach so high to make any difference that it'd totally ruin the architexture.
The Truthful Liar Posted October 1, 2002 Author Posted October 1, 2002 Well I still liked your idea, I'll see what I can come up with
Grets Sirob Posted October 1, 2002 Posted October 1, 2002 Quote Originally posted by Wes Marrakesh And Grets, I thought you left.. Well I kind of did for a while, but I'm back! I also have several new projects, but not a single one done yet... But let's get back on topic here...
The Truthful Liar Posted October 4, 2002 Author Posted October 4, 2002 Alright folks, well I owe you an update but I'm still working on it. In the meantime while you wait, you can download my final beta version of the duel map, here: http://www.nrgteam.com/downloads/duel_nrg_egypt.zip (No there isn't any music for this one yet. Not untill the official release) I'll have more screenshots on the ffa map in no time, try out the beta (3.5MB or so file download) and tell me what you think of it. Cheers
The Truthful Liar Posted October 5, 2002 Author Posted October 5, 2002 *ahem* Try the map above, I promise you won't be disappointed. The screenshots can be viewed on the top of this page. I'd like some more input please. bump
