lionknight
I would like to up grade my voodoo 3 16 mb graphic card to a 64mb put I don't know which is most compatible and which one works best with JK2. Could I please get some recomendations (geforce 4, Ati, ?) And do you all think it is worth it to invest the money for the upgrade, will I see a difference. I have a pent 3 500mhz with 128mb with the voodoo 3 16mb and would like to upgrade to 256mb and a 64mb 3-d graphic card. I have 2x Agp video slot. Thanks in advance. Emon
No matter what you get, the card will still be bottlenecked by the CPU by A LOT. I would recommend getting a new motherboard, CPU and RAM, perhaps a cheap but good AMD mobo and CPU like a Gigabyte 7VRXP and an Athlon XP 1800+, and 256-512 MB of RAM. Not that expensive, and very good. As for the best video card, the current best is the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro. It's much faster than the GeForce 4 Ti 4600. However, later this year (probably December) nVidia is releasing a new line of cards using the NV30 chipset, and if it's as good as it is on paper, it will blow the Radeon 9700 Pro out of the water. It's going to be quite expensive, so the 9700 Pro prices are going to drop a lot, so it might be good to get one of those. That's probably what I'm going to do.
