Madjai
well i learned how to weight by myself, i just tested how it works with the little explanation by spacemonkey and learned as i went. so just try experimenting, start with something simple like the head or feet
MacD
Spacemonkey tells you most of what you need. Also check out http://www.polycount.com for some excelent tuts. Also check out my tut for some info spacemonkey missed out on.
Edward Peretti
Madjai, how do you go about weighting the vertices at the cap / split body part areas of the mesh?
KMan
How many bones can you assign per vertex? Is it only one? I haven't started to weight any of my jk2 models yet, but I thought I'd ask anyways.
Madjai
eh? was that sarcasm Kman? i thought youve made at least one model before for jk2... or was it all skins? at the caps, take the head and torso for example: the bottom neck verts, where the head is cut off, say you give them all .3 abs effect for one bone and .7 abs effect for another. then the verts at the top of the torso, where the head is severed, must be weighted the same amount with the same bones. at max, each vert can be weighted to 4 bones.
