A : So that the company who made the game can go on producing more games like it for the fans. Imagine a game hits stores... sales are low because everyone downloaded it from kazaa, in that case the game producers think two things 1 "oh we made a crap game, lets give up on this franchise." 2 "oh we don't have any money to make more games." leaving us with no games - yes even to download- ever. games are relatively cheap, i personally do not mind paying 30 - 40 bucks every few months for a game.
