Joshi Posted October 13, 2002 Posted October 13, 2002 is anyone else getting really annoyed at the server alwasy going down. is it just me, or is it happening more often now? we had a huge discussion about this over at MIFF (no really, people go there and discuss things, it's not a ghost town). especially at the fact that mixinmojo and is linking worldofmi, milegend, thescummbar and MIAC which also went down with them. shouldn't they know that they can't hold the entire monkey island community on one server? (also, if anyone reads the post on miff, they'll know my full opinion on the matter, i'm not saying it's fully their fault, but it is mostly) please comment.

Joshi Posted October 13, 2002 Author Posted October 13, 2002 umm, k-jo, you didn't actually think it just floated out ni cyberspace did you. plus, this is a huge database with posts dating back to a couple of years ago, so they need to back that up somewhere, i.e, the hard disk, which is why they were down, they had to back up the database elsewhere. still, it is mostly the servers fault, it wasn't designed for a database this big, it collapse from underneath it which is why it went down adn took everything with it. we really need to inprove this.

I just dont see why the server has to crash if the back-up just run full. then if the server DID infact crash the back-up wouldnt supply all the posts and stuff but.....
