your lack of soul prevents you from believing that you have one. i believe that i have one and my faith in god helps my beliefe in that. you may not believe in god and therefor cannot believe in a god, but i am not here to question your beliefs, everyones entitled.

I disagree about the cats not being so affectionate. My cats wait for me at the end of the road to come home from work, then follow me up the path to my house running round my ankles. They both like cuddles, they come to the corner shop with me. Also both my cats do a nose to nose kiss thing, (with me, not with each other) when I say "kissy". in the winter when it is cold, the little girl cat, lays on my feet all night keeping them warm.

However, I think the biggest show of affection that my cats show, is simply living with me. I have a cat flap, so they are free to leave at any time. They choose to spend most of their time with me. Cats can be very independant, and would easily survive without a home, or find a new home if they chose to do so. But they choose to live with me, which i think is a special thing. The thing with dogs is that they are locked in the house, they are taken out on a lead, they are in effect prisoners. They have no choice but to be loyal.

um, sorry to spoil your fun there, but it a well known fact that mainly only primates can actually show facial espression such as a smile. dogs cats and other such animals are very limited in facial emotions.

and personally, i'm a cat person, i like the sheer independance of them. they are not, in my veiw, kept as prisoners, but fankly, they need us for food and shelter when a cat can practically survive on it's own in the city or country.

Neil I agree with you, cats are more mature then dogs. They do their buisness privatly and cover it, unlike dogs who don't care and force you to clean it up. They also clean themselves which a dog does not (if a cat dosen't clean itself then you should with soap and water until it learns to do it itself).

The white, 10 month old cat known to me as Murphy would spend most of his time in the house with us when we are home. He loved people and would often show his affection in a way no dog ever could - with his purr.

Also, when we got new carpet earlier this year (and I might mention the carpet guys did a good job and thought that the little white kitten was adorable sitting at the glass door of another room looking at them outside), what happened? The dog wet it - to mark his territory. Well that was brillient, especially since we had been trying to take precautions to stop him by never leaving him alone there - but someone did.

He loved the cat, but didn't seem to realise he was dead when we showed it to him.
