AlliedCommander Posted November 21, 2002 Share Posted November 21, 2002 If you use jedi fighters, then always research jedi mind trick at the temple to give them the stealth capability. Once when i researched spynet, which made it easier, i had my opponent locked up in his weak base. Any villagers that stepped out of his small defense range were vaped by the starfighters. If he sent a-a mobiles, my starfighters could just go to the other side of the base. My opponent was a rookie, so i think he had no idea of what his unseen enemy was. AU_Andy_Ewok Posted November 22, 2002 Share Posted November 22, 2002 I think they're very overrated imo. I think there cost is like 150n or maybe 100n. 2-3 figthers for the same price. If they come up against any other air they will lose, if they come up against any AA they lose. They do hardly any damage to any units except troopers & workers. Not exactly overly powerfull against workers. to have about 10 of them FU you would need to spend like 2-3000 nova, which in a game against equal players is going to be a load of difference in land battles. Â I'd much rather spend my nova on main attack force and leave the raiding to the much more efficient Strike mechs. Having the nova spent on upgrading my army is much more useful really. simwiz2 Posted November 23, 2002 Share Posted November 23, 2002 IIRC it only takes 2 Adv Starfighters to take out a worker in 1 hit, so raiding with 2 or 3 is a good idea. It isn't too expensive, and if raiding doesn't work, they make great spies when FU. Â Just like units having a LOS and calling them recon assets LOL! They don't cost 3 times the fighter cost. Â -for the tf, confed, and gungans-fighters cost 52 food, 63 nova, moe than half the jedi s. cost. And bombers cost 52 food and 84 nova for those civs. For the other civs it is less exspensive, but not a third of the jedi star. cost. Â I usually am not in an equal game, if i am, i have lots of holos usually to compensate for the j s cost. Last night i won a game on holocron victory, even though i was outnumbered. I Don't think i've ever seen so many atsts (hvy. m des.). But i won the battle no through creating many units, but sending four sith masters to slaughter the wall of mechs (they were blasting away at the at-ats). And they are decent against mechs, a lot moreso than the average fighter. I usually get a large group of them as support. A group of 15 can take out a strike mech in one volley. This is all fine, but i would like to see more varied tactics. Like coastal bombardment (the first step to this is not playing rlm), jedi and jedi starfighters. You can't just toss js's in and expect the enemys pummels to fall apart. I would think assault mechs would be used a lot, but i don't see a lot of them either.
