Wudan Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 Naturally, when a client changes weapons, this information has to be sent to all clients so they can draw this particular client accordingly. My Question: If a client changes weapons A LOT, can this cause any serious lag? Such as, can they fire their weapon, change weapons, fire again, and keep doing that, and everyone's pings would b crappy? I don't think it's a problem, I was just curious to see if anyone had any problems with it.
Jaii der Herr Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 I do not think that it can cause any lag: The worst case is that the server send every frame 1 or 2 bytes more than normally *g*
Wudan Posted December 1, 2002 Author Posted December 1, 2002 That's what I was thinking. It'll make what I'm working on ... safer.
razorace Posted December 15, 2002 Posted December 15, 2002 The server handles the weapon change commands anyway. There's no way to "spam" it faster than the server-based weapon switch timer. Now if you disabled the timer, then, yes, it could possibly be used to lag the game.
Wudan Posted December 15, 2002 Author Posted December 15, 2002 Well, I found a way to do what I was doing that doesn't take any risks on adding lagginess - it just does what it has been doing, only my way. Damn that was vague.
