chris026058
Hi everyone! I'm a "newbie" with a BIG problem. Whenever I try to install Jedi Knight 2, I get a CRC error that says, "Data Error-Cyclic Redundancy Check" and that always happens at assets1.pk3 at 12%. So I assume its something with that file. I tried manually copying it, which didnt work. I defraged my hard drive and did an error check. I have more than enough space. All drivers updated(which wouldnt have anything to do with it anyways). I even tried using Daemon Tools, but still with the same error. I'm using WinXP Pro(no SP1), NVIDIA TNT2, 512 MB RAM, and AMD 930 MHz Processor. Does anybody know what the problem could be? Could it be something with my virtual memory or RAM? Havent had any troubles with installing games up until this point, or usually all I have to do is defrag to fix the prob. I come to you all you Jedi Knight 2 fans asking that you help figure out this problem I'm having. I finally got aroung to playing the demo, and MAN, after playing that, I knew I had to have the full game. Now I finally have it, and cant play it. So, please, if you have any suggestions, any at all, please dont be shy to respond. Thank you! BTW, nice forum here!!!
Hekx
Check the disk for scratches, if sure I can remember a post a while ago with a similar problem. I'll see what I can find.. * Wishes the search function was enabled to make his job easier * [Edit] Maybe installing it under Safe Mode will solve the problem. chris026058
None of those worked. Thanks though. Does anybody else have any ideas about this?
Hekx
I suggest cleaning out your registry for any invalid JK2 enteries; you can use this nifty piece of freeware called RegCleaner Just make sure to make a backup (Start button - Run - Type scanreg - Say yes to make a backup) before you use it. The best option is the 'Automatic cleaner' which should be under the top menu bar somewhere You can remove all the files / uninstall the game / clean out the registry and try a clean install. If you continue to have problems; you can either contact LucasArts or return the game for a new copy since it seems it may be damaged. Hope this helps
