Cell Phones: Good or bad

It's good to have around in cause you run out of gas or your car breaks down, but I do get tired of always seeing people on them. Also when I'm in a Restaurant and some one's phone rings, they talk real loud and it's hard to hear yourself think!:disaprove: And another thing, when you are in a car with some one and their phoe rings, you're just sitting there, not saying anything cause you can't hear what the other person is saying. I think cell phones are good if used appropriately. :)

I agree with you. It seems that people have this need to talk on cell phones, like you talked about in a restaurant. I think it makes people feel like they are important...you know - "I gotta take this call man..." , stuff like that. Most cell phone conversations that I hear now are just mindless blather anyway...people talking for the sake of talking - and so other people can hear them. I think that a lot of people have the same feeling when they are in their car. Makes them feel important that they have to talk on the cell phone while driving. This isn't true in all cases obviously...but I have noticed things like what I said a lot. People are just going overboard with them, thats all. I think Cell phones are an awesome tool...but they are overused now and have become sort of a social high point for people. Like, it's cool to have a "cellie" so all your friends can call you at anytime. That is another thing too...who wants to be connected all the time anyway? I used to have a cell phone and it was turned off most of the time. I like to be able to be unreachable at some times, you know? Anyway...that is my rant. I kinda went off there :D :D :D

While we are on the subject of distracted driving, anyone ever seen the steering wheel laptop holder? It is this contraption that hooks onto your steering wheel so you can type on your laptop while driving. Crazy stuff man...and we all thought driving while talking on a cell phone was dangerous - I can't imagine driving while typing!!! :p

In a lot of circumstances, it is a good thing. Mobile phones are good for getting in touch with people in emergencies, when people are out and about away from home, and just to keep in contact more regularly. I do think there should be an age limit for mobile phones though, seriously. I see 9 year old kids playing about with them now, it's absolutely rediculous.

If it wasn't for my cellphone, my parents wouldn't let me out of their sight! I think you should be able to use hands-free cellphones while driving... it's just like talking to someone in the back seat, which I, at least, do a lot since I'm often driving with at least one parent in the car.

I agree that cell phones are an excellent thing to have. But is it really necessary to call one of your friends on your cell phone to tell him something that isnt that important or just to chat. Sometimes when you are driving you have to make split second decisions. Is it really necessary to worsen the risk of an accident by talking on your cell phone? Like I said before, if it is that important pull over.

The hands free set is better then talking on an actual cell phone but it still isnt good enough. You are still not paying 100% attention to the road. I agree however that cell-phones are very useful in cars, especially for emergencies. But talking on them while driving imo is irresponsible and dangerous.:)
