Gettin joystick just right.

Hi. I'm a black sheep and want to play JKII with my joystick. Stick on the movements, and mouse on the aiming. I have a Saitek Cyborg USB, but the stick itself isn't the issue. JKII wont let me bind the X-axis on the stick to strafe left and right. Instead it forced my X-axis to turn me left and right. I tried to hold down the "turn/strafe" toggle key, but then I loose mouselook! There's no way to officially set this up, so how would I go about modding this?

I think the joystick axis' are somehow linked to the arrow or the keypad arrow buttons. You should be able to move left/right with the joystick instead of turning left/right, but you may need to change the arrow or keypad arrow bindings through the controller setup menu (don't remember which, but I think it's the keypad arrows though). After that it should work fine.

I tried that just now. I does do the function, but its a on off thing, so somewhere when my stick is tilted left halfway I start to sprint to the left. :( can't do that. However, I get analog control over strafe when I use the turn/strafe toggle, but the dern thing messes up mouselook!

Hmm. I knew that the jojstick axis' worked as keypresses & not true analog, but I'm surprised you get analog function with turn/strafe, never tried that before.

I tried to use the joystick too, a long time ago, & finally gave up on it because I wanted to use it for moving forward & backward, & turning left/right. Since the game has no true analog support the turns had no variation in speed with the movement of the stick &, as you put it, was an on/off type thing. It sucked.
