meadfish
I have a home LAN, sharing broadband with a Linksys wireless router. (i know, gah!) anyway my pc is the main one connected to router via ethernet cable and the other pc is connected via wireless usb net adapter. So if the other pc hosts a game (JKII, also MOHAA) i can see it on the lan and join. But if I host the other pc cannot even see it. If i switch source to internet it sees all those, but on LAN nothing?? Anyone have any ideas? I also had to set the ports in the router to play internet without Gamespy. Any help is appreciated. Oh, BTW- both are running Win XP home edition, service pack
Jay Jay
I have had this same problem too but I was trying to host outside my LAN home connection and I have found that you have to open the ports on the router so that everyone can see the game. But don't leave the router ports open after you have finished becuase it invites hackers to get in you network but if you have a firewall you will have no problem with that. I didn't do this myself my brother told me when we tryed to host a game but anyway if you find more info can you post back because I will like to know to. meadfish
Thanks for info, but I had opened ports for internet play and it did not help to host on LAN. I wonder if I have to open port from other pc?
Andy867
You will need to open ports to the machines, also you will need to disable the "Disable Wan Request" in order for the router to allow the data packets to be sent properly.
meadfish
I was finally able to host by using the favorites mode and just inputing LAN IP. Seems like it would see it anyway, but oh well. Thanks for all info!!
