Graphics trouble.

So I installed my brand-new Radeon 8500 a while back, and now while playing in 1024x768 all the words are crooked. Like, every other letter bounced up a pixel or two, and they sometimes get flashy and glitchy. Is this a known issue? My version of XWA is the latest one, it came like that off the rack.

Alright, downloaded DirectX 9 and Catalyst and installed both properly. No change. Set the game to 800x600 - a little better but still kinda wobbly-looking.

My system:

Duron 900MHz

256MB RAM

Windows ME

DirectX 9

Radeon 8500 (not the LE) w/ Catalyst 3.0

17" KDS @view Monitor

Hmmmm ....not sure if the LE would make that much of a difference. Mine was the LE with 128 meg of ram on the board. Although I've never had a problem with XWA with the Catalyst drivers, I've heard in other games that some of the older drivers run better. Perhaps you should try some older drivers for the card?

You might find some good tweak programs for you card here: http://www.rage3d.com/ that may solve your problems. Let me know if this helps or not.

I'm having the same problem. I'm using the Radeon 7500.

When I tried to play the game the other day everything was glitching... like when something would move you'd see a trail of it all the way across the screen. It wouldn't clear it from where it used to be I guess.

I installed newer drivers and it fixed that but I have the exact same text problem as you.

I didn't have the problem back when I played the game on my onboard video so it must be the Radeon.

I know it's been a loooong time, but I thought I'd give an update:

I recently swapped EVERYTHING in my system except Hard Drive and video card. My new specs are:

AMD XP 2500+ 2.0Ghz overclock

512MB PC2700DDR

Windows XP Home - finally FREE of ME! Wooot!

Same old 40GB Fujitsu

Same Radeon 8500 64MB

DirectX9.0b

Newest official Catalyst drivers released only a few weeks ago.

Problem persists. Its just gotta be the Radeon. It never did match up to the TNT2 in terms of graphics quality anyway, so I'll be geting a nice 9600 (a generation advanced over the 8500) soon to see if that does it.
