altering existing mods

hi all, quick newbie question,

 

i want to change the saberon sound in the new episode 3 mod, i replaced the existing saberon.wav in the sound/weapons/saber directory but its still playing the old version

is there a file somewhere that tells the game which file to play and where its located? if so what is it?

 

also is there a way to replace files into the correct directory structure without unzipping and rezipping?

A- The game chosses the file with the newest date on it. If you have 5 Kyle replacements, for example, it'll only choose 1.

 

B- There's some other programs that the folks here use but dmaned if I remeber what. Winzip works fine for me. If you're REALLY lay you just need to keep the files in the new diretory. (ie /Gamedata/YourMod /)

:cool: The PK3's are loaded in order, but the files WITHIN the PK3s that are duplicates are selected by date.

 

I'm pretty sure at least, there have been an odd dozen or so times where I've fixed skin/model errors by just fixing the date on the file.
