The Jedi and his Lightsaber WERE one...

Okay, I'm sure someone has said this before, but I've been searching open threads and can't find an answer, so here goes...

 

I've tried just about every MP mod out there looking for the best kind of game... JediMod, JediPlus, OmniMod, ForceMod, ProMod... etc etc... and while they're all fantastic in their own way, they all seem to have the one common bug:

 

1.) I throw my lightsaber... it drops to the floor with a *clang* and I have to wait about 3-6 seconds for it to return to me.

 

SP mode, of course, sometimes does the same (when your throw is blocked or knocked down), but I can always call my saber back to me immediately... not in MP.

 

2.) A bot throws his/her lightsaber and it disappears... sometimes showing up parked in a wall or on the floor (still ignited), and he/she spends the rest of the game running around the map (their hand outstretched) trying to find it.

 

I have read in the "Feedback" forum that a similar bug has been observed in JK2 v1.04, however I have NEVER had any such problems while playing with bare v1.04... this bug appears only when I use one of the above-mentioned mods.

 

3.) I have attempted to counter this problem by using the CVARS in the mods to aviod modifying anything to do with saber throws (such as turning off "mod_blockThrow" in autoexec.cfg for JediMod/JediPlus), yet the bug persists.

 

Now... am I missing something? Or is one of those problems that everyone has come to know and love? :confused:

 

For all the outstanding (and I mean truly wonderful-beautiful-outstanding-worthy-of-tremendous-ass-kissing-good) work put in to these Mods by people like Dest, Tchouky, and Artifex and company, I just do not want to believe this is a problem with their coding for the Mods. Perhaps there are some CVARS or options that I've not set correctly.

So, can anyone clue me in on what I may (or may not) be able to do to solve this saber-dropping problem when using one of the afore-mentioned mods (e.g. JediMod, JediPlus, ForceMod, etc.)

1. The first problem is not a bug. In the code, when your lightsaber is blocked, Dest added code that randomly picks a number between 1 and 5 (if i remember correctly). That number is the duration in seconds before your saber can/will return to you, hence the delay. Currently there isn't a cvar to change this.

 

2. razorace is right....it's a bug when the bots lose their saber. But changing the cvar mod_blockthrow to "0" in your jk2mpconfig.cfg should prevent blocked throws from dropping the lightsaber.

This isn't true Darth because it is also a result of if the bot/jedi throws their lightsaber, then runs around the right corner, it won't come back.

 

This could probally be solved by seeing if the person has not had their lightsaber for 20 seconds and respawning it in their hands.
