Sirius_HAZARD
Hey all! Has anyone found a way to convert a Soldier of Fortune 2 map to a Jedi Outcast map? They both run off the quake3 engine so it would only be a matter of the .arena file and some textures. If anyone has advice I'd be thankful. - Sirius
Eldritch
Uh... it probably wouldn't only be a matter of changing the .arena file. You'd probably have to recompile the .map file to get a new .bsp (one that's designed to run in JO). If the .pk3 file was packed correctly, all you'd probably have to do is recompile. Dragarius
There is much more to any of these games than the engine. Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Star Trek Voyager Elite Force, and Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast all use the Quake III engine. But the maps are not interchangable. RTCW supports swinging doors, the other two do not. JKII supports force powers, the other two do not. See a pattern? The engine is just a starting point for creating these games. Although a total conversion could probably develop some sort of hybrid, that would be best discussed in another forum.
