Bakan
Hey there, I recently completed a massive upgrade to my computer. Beforehand, Jedi Outcast worked beautifully. Now, ever since I think since I installed a certain card, I can only last in MP for 15 minutes max, during which everything runs nicely. At the end of about 15 minutes, hard-crash and I have to manually reboot. 3DMark2001SE runs perfectally, though I dunno how much this helps you guys there. System Specs: Athlon XP 2000+ Asus A7V8X Mobo GeForce TI4600 512 Megs PC2700 RAM SoundBlaster Live! Soundcard 30 GiG Western Digital 80 GiG Western Digital Windows 2000 DirectX 8.1 nVidia Drivers 41.09 I've been tearing my hair out trying to get Outcast working again, and seem to have managed to stabilize Singleplayer. However, after reading several posts, can the SoundBlaster Live! card I have installed be causing the lock-ups that usually require a reboot? If so, will a driver update to the sound card fix that, for I'm currently running Driver version 5.12.2.252. Or do I need to completly get rid of the card, which at this point, if it fixes the problems, I'll do (would test it out, but in 8 hours I have to be awake enough to get ready for class, thus depending on the response I get here I'll try it or not). Thanks and I greatly appreciate any help in getting this great game running back up to normal.
Echuu Shen-Jon
Is it a Live! 5.1 card? If it is, I don't have any problems with it! Try to update your DirectX on this link! As I know, there's no newer patch to Live! 5.1! Hope it helps you!
Bakan
Well, I updated the drivers to my sound card (Soundblaster Live! 5.1) and was able to play for over 30 minutes without crashing, which is a first in a long time. At this point I really don't care anymore, I only play SP for now, thus I'm willing to let it take the back-burner. Gotta get back into the schoolwork thing. Echuu Shen-Jon
Okay. Hopes it solves itself! The ways of the computer is unpredictable! (If you use Windows XP, check out Windows Update. There was an update for my soundcard)
Hekx
Do you have EAX disabled under Sound? If you have it enabled, disable it. It's faulty and causes the game to crash in multiplayer.
Bakan
I'm 90% precent sure I had it disabled. But it was the sound, for when I removed the card and went back to onboard, no problems whatsoever.
