xstrifex
Hey, I've had JK2 for awhile now and just recently I upgraded from a GeForce2 GTS to a GeForce4 Ti4200 128MB. I had no problems running JK2 before, but now the screen shakes (both in game and just at the menu screen). I've got the latest patch. I'm running the game on a PIII 900 mHz machine on WinXP. Anyone have similar problems or any suggested solutions? Thanks.
Andy867
Have you tried updating your video drivers.. Also, try removing all the video drivers listed in the Device Manager, and let WinXP re-detect the video drivers along with the new drivers from NVIDIA'S website. That should help. also, make sure nothing that is requiring graphical memory is running in the background or on the desktop.
xstrifex
Nothing changed. I did try taking the game out of fullscreen mode and that worked, but going back to full screen it still shakes.
Purple_Tentacle
try specifying your monitor type in monitor settings, so instead of it saying "standard plug and play monitor" you load a customisation setting and tell it your monitor type, or the closest to it you can get. it solved a similar (if not the same) problem for me. xstrifex
My monitor is already specified in my configuration. I've noticed that this problem is inherent to any game using the Quake 3 engine, or at least I believe that to be so. I downloaded and tried to play the MOHAA: Spearhead demo yesterday and got the same shaking.
xstrifex
I fixed my problem. Apparently there's a minor glitch with WinXP and Nvidia cards whereby you specify your monitor refresh rate, but it ignores it (even though it stays at whatever you set) and defaults to another value (I think it was 60 Hz). Anyway, using the RivaTuner utility you are able to force WinXP to accept all the refresh rates your computer is capable of supporting at each resolution level. A pain in the butt and something I never would have found if I hadn't gone through the TweakForum WinXP Tweak Guide. Very handy thing for gamers. Andy867
The problem comes then is if your monitor can handle the resolution.. Too high of a refresh rate can cause problems in monitors that cant support it.
