thecharlah
Hi. I am running: amd athlon 1400 geforce 3 ti 200 asus a7a266 soundblaster audigy platinum etc... The problem is this: I will load multiplayer fine, even get to the level that is being played. I can play and it will have a decent framerate (avg 60). but at some point it will freeze. The video will stay stuck at one place, and the audio will skip. The only solution is rebooting manually, as it completely locks up the computer. This is a new problem for me...I just recently upgraded to directx 9 and to the new nvidia driver, so I'm thinking it might have something to do with the setup of those...any help? Thanks alot
Evil_bert
I have exactly the same problem but I don't know how to fix it. Its something with directX9 and/or the newest detonator driver from nvidia. I think Please help us with this GREAT problem:(
Pharoah
Well, I can be thankful that this isn't just me. I'm having the same problem, though some of the times, I will get an error message that pops up, and the desktop color is seriously washed out. Same thing, running DX9 and latest Nvidia drivers. Hope someone has and idea on this one (other then reinstalling the OS and going back to DX8, that is...)
Pharoah
Hmmm, been a few days. Is anyone else experiencing this problem, or have an idea for a solution? Still stuck here....
Katasha
Well glad it isn't just me. I don't want to kill everything on my computer but if that is what it takes to get JO running again
kevogle
The game freezes then sound skips after playing for a couple minutes.i just installed directx 9 and new nvidia drivers
Disp
I had the same problem, tried disabling various cvars, and it worked for awhile, but eventually it started crashing again. I finally formatted, which was long overdue, and before/after installing all xp updates it still crashed. What finally fixed it was installing newer intel chipset drivers and installing the intel application accelerator. If you have a via motherboard do not install these. Update your 4in1's instead, or try different ones.
Pharoah
I have the latest 4in1's installed on my machine, and it hasn't affected the crashes. What do you mean by trying 'different' ones?
wes9555
Hey guys I have the EXACT same problem. I THINK I have found a temp solution. What I did is start the multiplayer in safe mode and then set my resolution to 1024x768. I was able to play in multi until I quit without the game locking my computer so otehrs try this and let me know how it goes. Here are my system specs: Asus A7V-266E Athlon XP 1800 Geforce 3 Soundblaster Audigy 1 Windows XP Pro 512 DDR Crucial
coteesh
It's interesting. This freeze up, with sound looping occurs to me too, I believe this has only just started fairly recently, with my newest detonator drivers (43.45 and 43.51 WHQL) , and possibly related to DX9 stuff (and the desktop is all washed out, like in a previous post) This exact same problem occurs in Quake 3 Arena, 1.30 and 1.32. I believe they both use the same 3D engine? I installed some kind of Direct X 9 thingie from Microsoft's software updated. I dont think it was the full-blown deal though, I think it was just a small component, I remember it said it couldn't be removed after though. And of course, I did the driver update too. I'm not sure which of these is the culpret. Why the hell hasn't anyone in this thread tried down-grading their Nvidia drivers to see if that fixes it? are you all that lazy? sheesh... now I'm going to have to do it and report back to you lazy bastards.... I suppose if somebody here fixed their problem, they might forget about this thread and just play all day long though, that would explain it. My system specs are very close to all you peeps I think... Athlon 2100+ KX7-333 board (VIA chipset) SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 sound card Win XP Corprate Edition, with newest service packs Another funny thing about my system is I can't use EAX sound in JK2, or else after 3 seconds of game play it locks up and requires a hard-reboot !!! amazingly ****ty. coteesh
I believe the problem is related to the DirectX 9 patch thingie that was availible at MS Windows Update, a few weeks ago, the one that could not be removed (omg so completely stupid... ) The reason I think this, is because I have downgraded video drivers to 40.72 WHQL.... I still occasionally crash, this time I must hard-reboot (the washed out screen doesn't happen). So I think DX9 update thingie is the problem. How the hell do I uninstall this crap? My system says I have DX 8.1, but I vividly recall installing a small DX 9 update thing.
coteesh
April 2, 2003 DirectX 9.0a End-User Runtime http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=A19BED22-0B25-4E5D-A584-6389D8A3DAD0&displaylang=en The site recommends creating a "Restore Point" before installing. Lucky me, I deactivated the system restore functionality Anyone think this is the culpret?

Andy867
Well, Audigy sound cards have been found to have incompatibility issues with Jedi Outcast, especially when enabling the Advanced EAX feature.
coteesh
DX9 is not the problem, I still got crashing under DX8.1. I believe stupid fux0ring Micro**** has done something that broke this, in one of there fux0ring "critical" fuxing updates... oh well, I'm officially pissed at Micro$lut. Andy867
Well, even with the latest patches, EAX has been known to cause problems in Jedi Outcast. I've had this happen to me as well, and once I disabled the EAX, the problems went away. So that might be one suggestion.
Osanagokoro
It is a Soundblaster issue. Disable EAX- it breaks things in multiplayer. I had this same problem. Soundblaster has promised a patch available in... are you ready? August 2003.
