Major Mouse Issues - Need Help

Okay, I'm starting to remember why I started hating this game (aside from the notable issues involved in gameplay, which I won't mention here). Soon after the first couple patches came out, I sort of left the scene and became heavily addicted to Diablo 2, as I'm sure many people can relate to. But when a sequence of bad events led me to smash my D2 CD's with a hammer at 3:00 am in the morning, I started getting back into my other computer games.

 

So I brushed JKII off and started playing the single player. There were a whole bunch of really bad bugs, and that's when I remembered that I'd been running on 1.02 since the patches nerfed everything. Recently I decided to up to 1.04 to see what things were like online and so I could play the extra maps, which were 1.04's single redeeming feature.

 

I was hideously dissappointed with what I saw online. Not that the community isn't pretty good, it's just that my internet connection is so ****ty that I was pinging at about 700. I think a few people were even giving me sympathy kills when they saw me higher than 400. The real irony is that I have Rogers High Speed, which is a cable connection. Where I live, the internet doesn't get any faster (well it does, but I my parents pay for it, and aren't going to splurge for a T1 just so I can get my fix). Multiplayer is impossible for me.

 

So I went back to playing single player and that's when the most annoying bug EVER started happening for me. As I now remember, this was the thing that forced me to quit playing the game last time. It goes like this:

 

I have a MS Optical Intellimouse with the extra 2 side buttons, MOUSE 4 and MOUSE 5 in my setup. I like to use them as push and pull respectively, since I find that to be an intuitive set-up. The problem is that in 1.04, whenever I use either side button, push/pull is IMMEDIATELY followed by SABER THROW. There is NOTHING I can do to stop this and it happens EVERY single time I use push or pull. I'm sure you can imagine how F'ING ANNOYING THIS IS. I'll be fighting a reborn and want to push him over, and then I can't make the finishing blow because of some stupid bug that forces my saber to spin around over his body and come back to me as soon as he gets up.

 

It gets worse. Occassionally and for NO APPARENT REASON, when I hit either side button, my light amplication goggles activate right along with the auto saber throw! This has killed me online and in single player more times than I can count since it puts me in first person view!!!

 

I have absolutely no clue why either of these things happen and I have tried a number of times to correct them by changing saber throw around, changing push/pull around, changing "use item" around as well as fooling around with key binding in game.

 

I have also updated the drivers on my mouse and video card.

 

 

If someone can please tell me what the f--- is wrong with my mouse I would be extremely happy and my JKII CD's might not befall the same fate as D2 CD's...

 

 

PS: I am aware of my language, but I am very frustrated right now and mean only to emphasize how pissed off I am with what is, as far as I'm concerned, the mother of all bugs.

To be honest... It sounds more like your mouse rather than the game. Try reading the readme that should have come somewhere with the mouse. I had similar mouse problems (Well, similar in that a duck is similar to a bat because they have wings) which I was able to fix after I read some notations in the readme. So check that out. You might be surprised how helpful those things can be sometimes.
