AJL
In most JK2 MP servers (pure servers) you can only use exactly same models and skins and... what the host have who always have none... So only place where I can use custom stuff is in those non pure servers which are extremely rare (one of million...) and there is no way to know which one is pure or not... So Practically i CAN'T use any custom stuff in JK2 MP games... THIS NEEDS TO BE CHANGED... !
Luc Solar
They could: A) Give us a huge variety of skins so that the problems isn't as obvious as it is now (for those who care about this sort of stuff) B) Release an official skin/map collection for everyone to download a while after the game is released. (perhaps along with the inevitable patch that corrects the bugs left in the game) PS. GO FINLAND!
fallen[fk]
There are reason's for this. A long time ago you used to be able to do that, but then people started exploiting it and hacking game servers with invisible models/skins, etc. The way things are now is to protect us from those who would love to exploit the game. So just deal with it. Frankly the models/skins produced for Jedi Outcast weren't all that spectacular, very few like Cheshire, Arco and Toonces were able to put out good quality models. And adding 8 million models to a server also slows the server down and induces lag and skips.

But couldn't they make it so that you wouldn't be allowed to modify existing models and skins... Only make new ones... ----- ---- --- -- - 1. And then when you use some custom skin then other players games would at first check if they have that exactly same model with the exactly same skin and if they do then it is selected... 2. If they don't have the skin then their game would check if they have at least that model and if they do then then the default skin of that model would be selected... 3. If both skin and model are missing then the sex and maybe force side, class, ... would be checked and the default model and skin of that type would be selected... ----- ---- --- -- - Then you wouldn't be able to make others players glow in dark or anything like that... You could only affect to your own look and if you would make some skin which makes your self invisible it would make you invisible only in your own game (exept if other players would also have that invisible skin of course...) You couldn't get any unfair advantage of your skins...
Solbe M'ko
I've brought up a similar idea to Luc Solar in the past. If there were officail models/skins/maps to go with the patches, it would be a big boost to the replay value, IMO. PLus, you wouldn't have to worry about bad models or problems that make the model wonky and unplayable (like the old Mandalorian model, good model anyway, though).
