Duel/FFA map stuff -- 4 quick questions

1-- spawnpoints

In duel mode do I have to set a specific spawnpoint for duel only maps? If so what are they, currently I'm using info_player_deathmatch and it's spawning me with the blaster and a lightsaber, not just a lightsaber.

 

2-- bot routes

Saw an earlier thread about botroutes, is this really uber necessary in a duel map? Bots play bad in duels anyway :p

 

3-- FFA Spawnpoints

If I want my map to be a duel/FFA map is there a developers concensus on how far away 2 spawn points should be from each other?

 

4--Map betas

I've been on these forums before but I really haven't seen beta release thread, where should I post beta maps for evaluation and further improvement?

1: Spawnpoints will spawn the player according to the server setup. If the server isn't set to "saber only," then the player will spawn with a blaster as well.

 

2: Bot routes are not uber necessary for duel maps.

 

3: Technically, they have to be at least 64 units apart (to prevent spawnpoint overlap), but it's probably a good idea to space them out a bit more than that.

 

4: Beta maps are supposed to be promoted in the beta testing forum, but, more often, beta threads pop up in the mapping showcase forum.

I think that botroutes are important for any map, but since duel maps are smaller (and usually more open than any other type of map) there's no excuse not to botroute it. If I review a map with no botroutes, it definitely loses some points. Wedge has an excellent tutorial on botrouting if you need some help.
