I figured it out after all day of testing I tried putting the files from xp home onto my other drive.Unzipped all the files from jk2 editing tools. And ran it from that location. Then I unzipped all the files to the regular directory gamedata/tools and then i was able to run it from that location on xp pro.Thank god i figured this one out.So if anyone else has this problem this could be an anwser for you as well. And good mapping to ya bye:p

I've also had a problem with JK2Radiant on my XP machine. After I compile a map and load JK2 (leaving Radiant open), after I leave JK2 and come back to Radiant, Radiant is locked up. After a few moments, it locks up my machine. The only solution Ive seen is to shut down Radiant before I go into JK2.

Also leaving my machine on 24/7, Ive tended to leave Radiant open when I go to bed in frustration (usually quoting Dane Cook by saying, "f*** this game! You win grandma!" ;) ).

I wake up in the morning to find my computer had crashed, rebooted itself, and have a message saying that my machine had shut down unexpectedly due to a program error.

The only solution is the obvious: keep Radiant closed if youre not using it.

PS- I am running JK2Radiant 1.0beta, build 147. I guess the key term is "beta". :(

Funny i had the same probs as you awhile back but its an easy fix.For your restart problem rite click on my computer then the advanced tab. Then start up and recovery settings untick the one that says automatically restart under system failure. Now for the radiant problem you can try this if you want.Leave radiant open. open jk2 run the game whatever leave the game you might have the enity box on the desktop at this time. This what happens to me.Just rite click on the program in the toolbar and hit maximize. But the secret to this is to have patience and wait to do this sometimes a minute or so.Becuase the option of maximize will not be there. Before i had to reinstall radiant but then i learned this does not have to be done.Well hope this help.Xp is a tricky m@th*R F$cK#R Lots of tweaks to get around stuff.Ok see ya.

Ungh. Yes. I absolutely hate Windows. Earlier this week I got a new motherboard with a 3.0 GHz processor. ( :) ) I put it together fine, started it up, and behold, Windows would not start! Several hours later, I installed Windows on a different hard drive and it worked. It seems that some random piece of software installed on my computer did not agree with Windows. It wasted my entire day.

*sigh*

You know, Windows' don't really like if you change something important in the hardware. A change of the motherboard is a very cruel thing in Windows' opinion. :D Sometimes you are lucky if it survives. It is nearly as bad as taking your hdd out of a machine and put into a completely different one.

Ah, yes. Microsoft is now forcing you to call them if you make what they consider a 'major change to your system's hardware' and get a new registration key or your computer will not boot in several days. Supposedly, this is to help prevent piracy (copying hard drives, i guess?), but... I really doubt that will do anything but make Windows users angry.

@ Leslie: I imagine switching hard drives is very bad because most programs put some info in the registry that is vital to the operation of the program. This is especially bad if you happen to have 2 hard drives as I do.

Well, i guess its time to stop complaining about the stupidity of Microsoft and get back to mapping :)
