Jan, I had the same question for quite some time. After playing for 4 years, I can tell you this much: There are 2 "tried and true" ways to make a lot of money in EQ: 1. Level Unfortunately, there's just no way around this. The higher your level, the higher level mobs you can hunt, resulting in higher quality loot, resulting in better sales to other players. 2. "Buy low/Sell High". Also known as the "Bazaar game". With the introduction of the "Bazaar" on Luclin, all you have to do is go into /bazaar mode and look for bargins. You can do this at level 1 with as little as a few platinum pieces. For example: Let's say you have 20pp. You notice that someone, in the bazaar, is selling 4 "Greater Light Stones" at 5pp a piece. Everyone else, however, is selling them at 10pp a piece. You take your 20pp, and buy all 4 GLSs. You can turn around and sell them at 9pp each, undercutting the competition, and making a tidy profit. Now you have 36 platinum pieces. Continue on up the chain until you get into the hundreds/thousands of plat (this can be very fast or very time consuming, all depending upon market conditions/items available). Eventually, you'll see someone selling "Uber Item #237" for 10k plat when you KNOW it's worth 100k plat. You buy it, turn around and sell it for 100k (or 75-90k if you want a faster turnaround), and you just made a chunk of change. Method #2 works VERY well, but can also be the most time-consuming when it comes to waiting for a sale. Method #1 works VERY well also, but it is extremely time-consuming to make it up to level 60+. Either way, the age-old adage applies: "time = money" hehe Whatever you do, do NOT buy one of those "Earn 100k plat fast!" guides they sell on the internet. They've all turned out to be scams. The only reliable information on EQ out there on the net is the information that is free, believe it or not. You can also find organizations out there that sell in-game plat for RL money, usually at the rate of approx $10 per 1k plat (last I played EQ). This, by the way, violates your EULA, so if you're caught you'll be banned.
impX
SWG is addictive like EQ and crack but not as dangerous (or costly) as the latter How can you play EQ when you could play SWG instead?! What are you doing reading this thread? Go and play!
Jan Gaarni
I play EQ cause I'm still waiting for SWG. And, thanks, Mujahid. So the Bazaar is kinda like ... Wall Street? Except the stress?
TheMaestro
This game is addicting...you keep saying, "I'll quit once I get to Adv Rifle...then you say, but I'm almost an expert..." So you keep shooting and shooting... But SWG is better than EQ. Why? Cause I wanna turn around in a Cantina One day, and see Vader saying..."You've failed me for the last time..." and then my life will simply end. Might not happen, but it would be really cool
Exar_reborn
I never played EQ never got into it. I was an AC person. But there is so much good stuff happening and going to happen with SWG that it just might get addicting.
