TheMadHatter
I have recently upgraded from WIN 98 SE to win 2k and have encountered a problem running Jedi Outcast, my system specs are as follows. XP2500 512mb ram GeForce 2 MX400 (yeah I know its old and slow, its will be replaced) Monitor Samsung Syncmaster 753dfx Drivers are all the latest as of 5/7/2003 Ok under WIN98 with the latest detonator drivers the game ran fine, but under WIN2k the refresh rate of the monitor in the game menu and game itself has dropped so that the screen in noticeably flickering. Under 98 it was rock steady. The same problen does not occur in dx games like Unreal 2. ie, running jedi outcast monitor refresh rate is 60hz running Unreal 2 monitor refresh rate is 85hz Does anyone know a fix for this as the game now makes my head hurt when I play it? Nb. The same problem is evident in medal of honour
Amidala from Chop Shop
When running full screen under Windows 2000, my refresh rate also is 60Hz. So I run it in window mode (Setup, Video, Full Screen: Off), and it refreshes at the normal rate for my setup (85Hz). Make sure you set the game resolution less than your desktop resolution, ie if you run your desktop 1024x768, run game at 800x600.
TheMadHatter
Thank you for the reply, I was starting to think that I was the only person who had come across this. That does the trick although it is not as good looking as running the game full sreen. As an interesting foot note to this question I have downloaded Wolfenstien Enemy Territory ( another q3 engined game) and this does not suffer from the same problem, so hopefully Jedi Academy will be the same. Thanks.
TheMadHatter
Ok I have found a little program that will fix the refresh rates in Jedi Outcast under win2k, it is called PowerStrip and can be found at http://www.entechtaiwan.com/ps.htm I only have it turned on for playing JO and it will force the monitor/graphics card to refresh at the rate u select.
