It's actually a Bollywood remake (read: ripoff) of the original (read: 1978) Superman, even featuring the original's special effects and music. I found a link to this in-depth analysis on Ragnar Tornquist's journal, and it's quite humorous, as well as educational. I mean, where else are you going to learn the English equivalent of the Hindi phrase that translates, "There is something black in my lentils"?
