Sound in CMI

The sounds in CMI don't work the way I would like them to.

But first I need to ask: should there be any dialogue sound?

When Guybrush talks, I only get the subtitles. Both voice & text are activated in the settings. The music works and the sound effects work (walking, cannons etc) but they just wont talk to me.

 

And it wont start from Quick&Easy.

Unable to open key "SOFTWARE\Lucas Arts Entertaiment Company\Curse Of Monkey Island\v1.0"

and access value "executable"

 

I have all the files I think I should have (a thread in mixnmojo.com forum thread helped with that). I have win XP.

 

I also have difficulties with running Grim F and Sam&Max under xp, but I'll get back to those later on:)
