Yeah, Kendo is pretty violent I suppose, lots of whacking and stuff like that, hopefully they involve pads, those sticks hurt... Your friend took Kendo ageeees ago? Heh, hopefully they enjoyed it{aside from the whacking part:D}

Sadly, I have not read any of his books completely, I did have to read certain excerpts during school projects...but I have yet to finish one...NEW GOAL!

Well, the title of The Five People You Meet in Heaven definately suggests some sort of tear-jerker, and as you said, it does it very well...man...now I have to read something happy and good like Peter Rabbit or something..I must counter the sadness!
