This is great news! I've been oogling that book for a while and I'd love an English copy!

Of course I don't have any reason to complain at all the Monkey Island goodness that's being released recently, but I do have a question for the author:

I don't know how the book is structured, but what I'm wondering is if you'll update the book to include Return to Monkey Island. After all, if I'm not mistaken, the French version was released before ReMI was even announced.

I am a completionist at heart, and I'd love for every chapter to be mentioned!

    Thank you. :)

I'm thinking about translating myself the summary of the book (or something that give a good idea).

And, well, indeed, I will add a chapter about RtMI. I don't know exactly when but my publisher will communicate about that very soon.

Everything is still much too fresh in my head to take a step back on the game, its end, and even its importance. It's so meta. It's gonna be exciting.

After the slap I received during the prologue of the game, I believe that the reflection that transpires from the fifth chapter deserves to be digested at length. What a fantastic game. What a great reflection on 30 years of gaming, on our expectations as players, and on the SECRET :)

Small question nevertheless, I knew that Neil Druckmann (Naughty Dog) had to interpret a character in the game. He appears, moreover, in the end credits. But does anyone know which character he plays exactly?

Haha thank you, I'm glad people liked those :)

I think I did see something from Ultima Underworld, I remember seeing the original sketches, I kind of skipped it since I never played any of the Ultima games 😛 (not that I didn't want to play them haha).

I'm making other covers for Prisoner of Ice, Shadow of the Comet, Waxworks and Amazons (these last two have been somewhat of a pain but hope it will be worth it :P).

I also uploaded another for Veil of Darkness (the Japanese cover that was far better looking).

Is there any chance you have the SSI artwork without a logo and without a title? (as for Alone in the Dark) (it's for a friend 😁)

I have tried my hand at making a few for myself though they are not great since I rely on whatever I find over the internet which is not that good, so far I made the three Alone in the Dark and Kyrandia 3 but they are far from perfect (though they look great on print ;P).

I also recently made a small amount of posters from some of the old SSI and D&D games I found the art of at a really nice quality so I made them for the Eye of the Beholder 1-3 games, Al-Qadim, Pool of Radiance and 2 for Ravenloft and I really like how they came out.

I mostly wanted to display the original art and not the cropped versions used on some of the covers since I loved the art but those covers were kind of ugly, but I made a frame to simulate the feel of the original box a bit with the titles (some with a different font) and I added the much needed artist credits.

You can find them here if you are interested in those:

This is how they look if you don't want to browse the link.

This is absolutely wonderful !!! It's been barely a week since I posted some of these SSI game artworks on Twitter wondering how to find them in better quality! Thank you 10000 times !!! And please don't stop!!

And maybe one of you has this artwork in good quality? I would be very grateful ❤️

I wonder if these were made by three different illustrators because there seems to be a different signature on every poster.

In the AitD 1 Poster, on the lower left side, there seems to be the name Eagle, but I am not entierly sure. That name doesn't show up in the manual.

In the AitD 2 Poster, the name CALL can be seen below the steps on the right.

In the game's manual, you can find the name Greg Call under "Special Thanks".

And the AitD 3 Poster: I'm not sure if that is a signature or my brain is misinterpreting something, but below the right boot of Carnby, there seem to be the letters GB engraved on the floor. Sadly I can't find the full name in the manual.

    Marius.

Indeed, here is the results after a short investigation (on twitter :)):

    AITD 1 : Bruce Eagle

    AITD 2 : Greg Call

AITD 3 : Still not sure...

If you want brain shattering revelations, I've got one for you.

Both Craig Derrick and Bill Tiller said in the book that if Curse ever gets remastered they would use 3D. Craig wanted to replace all the assets in 3D, and Bill wanted to repaint the backgrounds and use 3D characters.

Personally, I think this would be a huge mistake and it's kinda soured my excitement for a remaster to be made. You just don't do that with a game so heralded for its 2d character animation. Maybe it could work, and I just have limited imagination, but idk, seeing Tiller's other work doesn't inspire much confidence that it could live up to the stellar work that has already been done with the original game.

    Thanks a lot.

Is there even a chance that this remaster will see the light of day..?
Personally, I would be more curious that a new opus be developed rather than play endlessly on nostalgia. Nostalgia which invariably leads to a certain disappointment indeed...

  8. Hi Mojo.
Now that a few weeks have passed since the release of the anthology and, above all, of the book Monkey Island Chronicles, have you had time to read it? Are there new and unseen things? revelations?

Small additional question to the owners of the book: A friend of mine, Jean-Baptiste de Clerfayt (developer of Lancelot Hangover) was interviewed more than a year ago to appear in the book, but he finally never had a news from LimitedRun and don't even know if his stake was kept ... Would you be so kind as to tell me if so?

  9. Don't worry, I'm not going to do my own advertising :)

So I'll just take the liberty of saying that @LucasFilmGames (on Twitter) is writing a real bible on the subject containing hundreds of interviews, visuals, and so much unreleased material that it's indecent. (On the other hand, no idea of the release date).

    EDIT

Oh, and I wasn't saying that to discourage anyone, on the contrary. I am in a position to say that as long as there are people writing about LucasArts / LucasFilm, and there is love for these games, it can only be positive !!
