  1. Giants are ok so long as you keep your distance and don't mess with their pets.

I'm finding navigation easier now that I've 1) left Lydia at home and bought a horse and 2) have a better feel for the map. There are some pretty cool scenes later in the story that I only found because I didn't use fast travel. Not to say that I haven't used it at all, but I use it extremely sparingly. Side note on the map: NSEW, the area is probably smaller than Morrowind. What gets you is the elevation...and one completely ****ed up area I'm not even going to talk about (thank goodness for elevators).

I've been ambushed by the DB a few times. It could be that it's a random encounter, however I suspect it's Imperials who've gotten tired of me attacking their prisoner convoys.

  2. Gift card from parents. Gift card from the office. Paid $4.50 for Deus Ex. Cancelled Gamestop preorder months ago because I wanted the Best Buy preorder bonus. Opened package and the card has the code for the Gamestop preorder bonus. *sigh*

Now I'm emailing Square Enix for help. I hope they don't suck.

  3. Glad to hear the alcohol can still find your liver at your advanced age :xp:

My son was gone for 2 weeks and I think I drank twice and got a buzz once. I'm far too domesticated for 35.

In other news, I finally let curiosity get the better of me and followed the farmer with the painted cow to the giants camp. Once there, he was summarily attacked (glad I was sitting down for that one). I decided not to let the injustice go unpunished and rushed in to put that bully in his place. My blocking skill was just good enough that I only died about a dozen times (mostly when my run-around-in-circles-while-health-regens strategy failed due to either over-confidence or poor timing) but I did manage to level about 3 times in 10 minutes :D

  4. Glad to hear you're having fun with it.

FO:NV spoiled me. While there is some good writing in Skyrim, the lack of choice is very apparent (usually only one way, maybe two, to resolve things). I hate being forced to sneak or kill if my character isn't sneaky or bloodthirsty. Fallout gave you 50 ways to do anything and I think I didn't truly appreciate that until now.

  5. Going to pony up and pre-order this weekend. Trying to decide whether I'm going the PC-route or the console-route.

Toolset could be a determining factor.

  6. Good call re: Tali vs. Legion. FWIW, I (and therefore Shepard) wasn't sure if I would be sending Tali to her death, and she and Shep are supposed to be friends. Legions is a Geth and therefore expendable.

As for the BHC...I'm actually a member of the DK hater's club. I think I'm still accepted there :)

  7. Good. That means the stolen work was limited to mine. Glad to hear others weren't affected.

It's a shame he didn't just acknowledge that he used my stuff. Like I said, I didn't care until he tried to deny it.

  8. Got a dragon fly-by and felt a little dejected. Went about 50 feet further and found another one beating up a poor, defenseless frost troll. Engaged the dragon, killed the troll. Followed the dragon to find out what was more important that I was. Looted a dead deer. Chased down the dragon again to find out what was more important than I was this time. Tried to distract the dragon from the poor, defenseless Khajiit caravan. Wondered where the hell the giant came from. Teamed up with the giant to kill the dragon. Felt twinge of betrayal as giant attacked me. Sold loot from dragon and giant to grateful Khajiit and continued on to Windhelm.

On a side-note, I have to admit that this "no lockpicking" run has been difficult at times (temptation sucks), but I still find that I end up with more loot than I can sell. And that with the incredibly restrictive loot list that I limit myself to.

  9. Got tickets to an advanced screening of Rango tonight. The kid is absolutely out of his mind over this movie, so I'm expecting to score major points over this development. Also, national sales meeting tomorrow (and Thursday. And Friday). All this equals little or no ME2 time for me tonight :(

    Have fun without me.

  10. got to a comfortable stopping place with Skyrim. Might circle 'round after another patch or two. Did a xbox FONV run to get the last pending achievement. Installing the PC version now. Any recommended mods you want to throw my way would be greatly appreciated :)

Hope you had a safe and happy 4th.

  11. Got to Disc 2 last night. Landed on 2175 Aeia for Jacob's loyalty mission, saved, and went to bed.

Fired up the game after work and lo-and-behold, both Jacob and Kasumi have the Damage Protection bonus. Now I get to see if it sticks around and then try to figure out why it worked all of a sudden.

  12. Gracias. :)

Glad to see the Senate so active.

  13. Great moments in being a douche-bag: Whilst writing a cover letter espousing my great attention to detail, I misspell a word, and then don't notice until after it's sent.

Since the guy that proofread it for me didn't notice either, I'm hoping that the recipient will miss it as well. Hooray for humility!

  14. Grrr...

Ok, so now that I've spend thousands on fuel and probes and have accumulated vast amounts of resources, I find out that I'm never going to use a huge percentage of them.

Chalk it up to live and learn (for the next playthrough), but it would be nice to sell some of this eezo somewhere, etc. :(

  15. Grrr...no trophy for my cabin?!

    Suck.

  16. Had the same thing happen with the Batarians threatening Mordin's assistant on Omega. My weapons didn't do squat but Jacob was able to kill them. :(

Just picked up Damage Protection 2/6 during Jack's recruit mission. My shields went from 274 to 300 (which is about a 10% bump), but now I'm wondering where my armor bonuses are. Perhaps the bonuses are only applied when I'm wearing the armor (as opposed to showing on my character sheet). This makes me wonder if perhaps the other stuff only shows for squad members during combat or something. A dumb way to do it considering that none of them get armor, but hey, something to check.

EDIT: Speaking of Jack, does it strike you as odd that her upgrade adds 20% to her biotic damage, but none of her available powers list a damage attribute ("Force" and "Damage" are listed separately on other powers which makes me think the terms are not interchangeable)?

  17. Have you seen this?

    http://g4tv.com/videos/48105/Fallout-New-Vegas-Senior-Designer-Interview/

Pre-ordered the collector's edition for PC this weekend (took your advice). Even more excited now.

  18. Hehe, which Legion ending? :)

Yeah, male with specialization in either unarmed or melee. My first was unarmed, my next will be melee. First guy was bar-room brawler type, but I think I'm going to model my next one on Vulpes Inculta (ruthless, sneaky bastard).

However, I am in the process of downloading GTA:SA for the 360 (Rockstar is having a 50% off sale via the Marketplace). I may or may not be taking a break from FO:NV for nostalgic purposes :)

  19. Achilles

hehe, glad to hear one of us decided to use their powers for good :)

here are the specs on my monitor if they help at all.

EDIT: Just tried playing NWN2 at "native" resolution. Even with my glasses I don't get how people can see anything when it's that small.

  20. Hehe, I did that too, but she was a brutish Orc with a short fuse and large mace. She killed things that didn't talk pretty at her. With infamy as high as hers, I don't think I need to tell you that she killed a lot of things.

Just landed at Freedom's Progress. Miri has the new pistol but Jacob and I are stuck with the swap meet version.

  21. Hehe, I don't hate it.

Speaking of Krogan; am I the only one that finds it odd that so many of them wear armor that is manufactured by their hated enemies (i.e. turians)? Maybe you could say that mercs don't care, but the codex makes such a big deal about them caring. *sigh*

Kaiden is a Commander now, which makes it odd that he still refers to Shepard as "Commander". His armor on Horizon is spiffy, which makes me wonder why his armor in the Prologue sucks.

I'm thinking I need to take at least one more SaveShep to 60 and then I can put ME behind me. I was ok with keeping it as a guilty pleasure, but now it's not even fun anymore. :(

  22. hehe, just finished that section myself.

I'm thinking that I'm going to find it very difficult to play other classes after Infiltrator. Too many awesome ways to kill things. Definitely a favorite.

  23. Hehe, not all of them are bad. The icon for the Giant's Toe is a severed toe with a thick, yellowing nail that looks as though it's been stubbed on a few rocks. Does my PC really want to put this in her mouth so she can make potions with future toes?

Also, first two mods once toolset is released:

    1) mod that makes crafted items more valuable than their component parts (i.e. Gold ingot = 50 gold; two gold rings made from gold ingot = 50 gold).

    2) adjust rate at which creating potions advances skill. This simply has to be bugged. :(

  24. Hehe, yeah TPM had the same clip up earlier today.

Home from errands and installing my new toy now. 66% of disc two. Then I have 3 codes to enter and a ME2 character to import before I can play. Hope I'm finished before dinner :(
