  1. Advantages that can even the odds say, when someone twice your size starts brawling you. It is a good portion of the higher martial arts teachings, part of the reason the community regards a practitioner in his martial arts prime at 50 as opposed to something like 25 for a football player or a boxer.

     

    They are integral elements of several bujinkan ryuha still active in Japan (very rare, very exclusive martial arts schools with very ancient traditions). One is budoka (Togakure Ryu Budo Taijutsu) many believe to have become too commercialised (even though few hear of it or recognise it for what it is when they do), another is kobudo (Takamatsu Ryuha Kobudo) which many consider to stylised and traditional (very few people know about this highly reputable school). It really depends on your personal flavour, traditionalist or improvisationalist (both have elements of either, but each has their respective emphasis).
