JA Demo crashing

I DL'd the demo and started the Chandrila map, got about 2 mins into it and my system rebooted. I loaded it back up and I got a CTD, (Crash to Desktop). Loaded it back up, created a new character and tried the Tatooine map, which I got through, with no problems. So I frigured maybe the Chandrila one would be okay? NOPE! Only this time I got farther than before? What is going on? Any ideas? The only thing that comes up, is, "Jedi Academy has encountered an error and has to close" this is only during combat? In the error dialog message, there was something to do with an error in the "jasp.exe" file?

Is this some prelude to what will happen after I install the full game, or could this be something wrong with the demo code?

My system:

AMD Athlon 950mhz

512m Ram

64mhz Nvidia mx 440 video card

I also play SW:Galaxies and am having the same problem with that game which only started about a month after I had been playing? So about a week ago?

Thanks in advance for any input!:atat:

I just dl the demo and tried it and i've got almost the same problem : i first went on tatooine and finished it but then i went on chandrilla and at the first fight with a jedi the demo crashed and windows xp show a error dialog message and i may send a report to microsoft (i did so but they can't help yet).

My system :

PIV 2.4 Ghz

512 Mo RAM

Ati Radeon IGP 345M

Win XP home

I tried to change the config setup from the fastest to the slowest but nothing change (exept that the fastest is ugly :) ).

I tried uninstalling the game, Eax is turned off and i've got the latest driver for my video card but it still doesn't work.

just hope this won't happen on the full version of the game...

so if you've got any info thx

I am soo happy!! The tip about force feedback helped me to overcome the problems of demo crashing straight into desktop when the game was about to start. Before this, I did almost everything: switched dx9.0a->9.0b, updated my display driver, configured the 16bit display, tried the fastest settings, hell, I even attempted to hold my breath during the start-up. Somehow the default setting is 'on' for the force feedback, and by switching it 'off' everything started rolling. Thanks again!

-One happy padawan :D
