markg7
I posted this at the end of someone elses thread yesterday, so it may have been missed. I can't get the demo to work. I've downloaded three different copies of it, but every time i try to run it, i get as far as the bit asking for your e-mail at the start. Whether i go through that or skip it, i immediately get an illegal operation error before the installer even starts. I downloaded the latest catalyst drivers for my 9500 pro, but that didn't help. I've also tried to run the demo on another machine, and it ran the installer OK, so it's definately my machine. I'm running Windows 98 SE. I'm going to try defragging and running a virus check tonight, but anyone got any other ideas in case that doesn't work? Cheers I've since defragged and virus checked my machine, but i still can't get any further. Anyone help? I'm running :- Athlon 2000+ Radeon 9500 pro 512 meg of memory Windows 98 SE
Demolisher
I'm in the same boat, I can't install the demo because it says the file is corrupted! I am so friggin pissed. I am on a 56k modem and spent the last week downloading with Getright and now this. :swear:

Agen
Well, i downloaded the demo off lucasfiles with no probs, I installed the game no probs. played it for a bit but had to goto bed. So anyway, this morning when i tried to play the demo it said install, i jsut ingored it and tried jasp.exe (or something liek that) but it decided to go all huffy and completely froze when i ran it. Only the mouse would move - everything else totally didn't respond ( i even left it for 10 minutes). I restarted my computer then tried to run the game again... no luck. I uninstalled but that crashed halfway through, so i just eventually deleted the remaining bits of the demo. So here i am trying to reinstall the demo and now everytime it gets to data1.cab it give me an error message "unable to run specified program" or somthing, reading unable to executre setup.exe......... I'm stuffled. I got a AMD TBird 1.4 ghz, 256mb ram. :-/
Andy867
Have you tried turning off Force Feedback while in-game before doing a mission... Its under the controls for the mouse/other Also, try running defrag as a secondary option.
Agen
Well i don't really have the demo (i uninstalled and can;t reinstall ) anymore to select that but i'm pretty sure it was off at the time. *dreads defragging machine again* I might as well wait for the release in 6 days :/
Andy867
The problem Agen_Terminator is that Force feedback for the mouse is on by default... Well, download RegCleaner and use it since it will scan your registry, and delete any reference to the demo that are still present, and then try to re-install... Also, try running Disk Clean-up Wizard to remove any Temp Files and such.
Agen
Thanks for you help andy, Though i do remember switching it off (i read the thingy when the mouse went over it). I'm gonna go downloaded reg cleaner right now, i had a brief look around the registry but didn't really see anything to do with the JA Demo. Thanks again. Andy867
yea its weird because Jedi Outcast had the same problem for some where they would uninstall it, but had trouble re-installing because there was some rogue links still left in the registry which was basically foling the installer into thinking that the demo is already installed, etc.
