ATI Radeon Users- What Drivers Are Working For You?

I'm curious to see what Radeon users are having no problems with the game. What version of Catalyst drivers are you using? or anything else worth noting.

Judging from this thread, it seems as if it may be a Radeon specific problem. I already contacted Lucas Arts support. Just for the record- I reformatted my hard drive and did a clean install of Windows XP Professional (SP1a), updated everyting via Windows update, updated my motherboard bios, and am using the latest drivers for all components.

Check out this thread! -(you'll see my system specs and others who are experiencing the same kind of problem).

Look for me as JediJackass in the "Free-For-All" MP games!

I have 9700 Pro. I tried the 3.7 Cat drivers, but I always get some wierd flashing effects on the screen. I thought I could live with it, but once I got to the train level, I got too disoriented to put up with it any longer. I switched back to Cat 3.6, and everything's perfectly fine for me.

I, too, had the weird flashing effect with the 3.7 Catalyst drivers and switched back to the 3.6, however, my friend who also has a 9700 Pro was determined to get the 3.7 drivers to work.

He found that turning off the 'dynamic glow effects' in the game resolved the issue. That might help.

I'm running the 3.7s on my 9700 Pro. I too was getting the flashes and such, I turned off dynamic glow and got a 50% increase in frame rate and no more flashes.

There doesn't appear to be anything affected by turning off the dynamic glow, I'm not sure what it does.

Windows XP Home sp1

ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB

Catalyst 3.6

Haven't got around to loading 3.7, so I think I'll just wait until 3.8. I played around with Dynamic Glow... it didn't seem to do much except to the saber, and I thought it looked funny, so I turned it off (for the fps increase as well).

I heard a rumor that it doesn't seem to do much because the Radeon does something to that effect already in hardware... sounds weird to me...

You must be kidding, what are your system specs. I have a 9800 pro and my framesrates are very good. I turned off the dynamic glow to fix the screen flashing problem. After that it ran fine.

System stats are damn good

XP3200+

A7V600

Radeon 9800pro

1GB Corsair PC3200

80GB Seagate Barricuda V SATA

All in all performance is better once the dynamic shadows and mouse rumble are turned off, and dynamic glow got rid of the flashes, but it's still not running as well as I thought it would (although it is about 40FPs better and after a reresh fix I think it should be looking a lot better).

It's strange. The beta worked fine for me, never crashed, dynamic glow always enabled.

For the full version of the game I purchased, dynamic glow goes on and off during the game, and sometimes crashes it. I've used 3.6 AND 3.7, both of which didn't help with the full version.

I hope either Raven revert what they did since the beta, or ATi find a fix for the 3.8 drivers.

I find that the combination of DirectX 9.0 and the Catalyst 3.6 drivers work the best. I have everything maxed at 1024 x 768 and I see no performance drop with the exception of the first time I enter a sweeping outdoor map. I suggest you guys downgrade to 3.6 simply because they work better all around. I also find the dynamic glow makes the game look a lot sexier. And I don't typically consider graphics to be that important.

I have not purchased this game for the reason that it plays like im using a 220 Mhz Pentium II. I have a..

Ati Radeon 9600 Pro, Cat 3.7, DX9a, 512 Ram and 2.53 Ghz P4 and the game plays like doo doo.

All the other message boards say turn the graphics down. Thats bull I didnt fork out all that dough for this comp to play my game 800x600 16 bit like some game made in 1996.

I play all the top games maxed with everything on you could imagine just fine. Yeah I defragged and my comp is brand new so its not me. Ati cards are leading the industry as we can tell with the Half-Life 2 benchmarks, Xbox2 is gonna be ATi, so lets get this game with the program.

Turn off dynamic lighting, naaah
