  1. 1. Quintisential Nationality?

    • I adore my birth-nation. I am the epitome of everything to do with my country. I am proud.

    • I live here, therefore I have to be this nationality. Not by choice, mind.

    • I dispise my birth-nation. I cannot stand anything to do with my country. I wish to be someone different.

    • Where do I live again? Oh, right...

Nah, that's the aussies

No...I was correct in the nationailty I assigned...:D

Alright, how many times must I repeat myself? I DO NOT THINK, IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM, THAT BEING FROM GREAT BRITAIN MAKES ME BETTER, HIGHER OR MORE INTELLIGENT THAN ANYONE, ANYWHERE! How you people came up with that one, I will never know...

it may have been this...

I do not blame you, Homuncul. If I were Russian I would need to turn to drink. No offense, of course.

Thopa Elsst, if you are proud to be an Englishman, have you given yourself such an un-English name?Just a thought... and you do not like Prime Minister Tony Blair. Oh dear, oh dear, where is your faith in your country's leader? I do agree, however - s country is being dragged into a slimy European existance.long live the pound... in fact, long live the Queen! Give Her Majesty all the power, and see how Europe likes that

Maybe it's just me, but that sounds a little xenophobic, and your explanations as to why left a little to be desired.

leXX, you are jumping to conclusions. I do not think all countries apart from England are 'slimy', stating that as if it were a fact is very wrong of you.

well you didn't say all countries were, but you certainly said Europe was. Once again, not directly SAYING you're better, but inferring it.

I don't think I'm extra-specially important just because I come from Great Britain. I do think, however, that my country is a great country, and I for one will not back down when people say things like "Remove the Queen!" and "Tony Blair is an idiot!". Her Majesty is an amazing individual, and the Prime Minister is doing a brilliant job at running this country.

Again, leXX, why hide behind an internet alias when you come from one of the greatest nations on the planet? Oh, wait, time for me to play nicely again... one of the greatest nations on the planet in my opinion?

The phrases in bold especially contradict one another...first off, what defines greatest? If you're the greatest (or one of), which nation is the least great? Isn't the quality of a culture mostly defined by it's people. It seems as though you are unwilling to go so far as to say that you are great, so you imply it by saying your country is.

After all, I would hate for people to think I was American.

I also do not hold the stereotypical view that Americans are fat, television-watching, beer-drinking lazy slobs. That's only Homer Simpson. I realise that every country, every culture, every person has both good and bad points, and I accept this. I know England is not perfect, as I know America, Europe or anywhere else are not all backward countries

once again, two statements which contradict one another as near as we can tell. The statement that you would hate for people to think you were American holds with it the negative connotations you named in the statement below it. You seem to consistently make sweeping xenophobic remarks and then quick fixes and clarifications when people 'misread' them. Yet shortly after or even while making the clarification you say something else which makes you seem to be very very arrogant.

Ok...there it is, that is how we came up with that one :). I don't mean to say that you ARE arrogant, I don't know you and haven't spoken with you enough to determine that for certain. I simply wanted you to understand that many of the little things you say add up to create a somewhat negative image. Those little things, when combined with your apparent determination that English people must behave as English people, and not absorb other cultures (see comments to the fellow who is now Lord Blackadder...a 'properly' English name...), add up to a portait of a xenophobe.

Again, I don't know that you are a xenophobe, I just want to make sure that you understand that this impression didn't come from nowhere.

So, that said, I apologize if I made remarks earlier which were overly presumptous--I really don't think that there is anything wrong with simple national pride, I just don't think that it should stop people from accepting good, foreign ideas, and I don't think it should be used as a tool for opression...

PS - Keeping the Pound is more than just spending money. It is a symbol of our island nation, with Her Majesty emblazoned on the coins and notes to remind us of WHO WE ARE! I don't want some note which is shared with the other European countries, depicting other foriegn people and places.

So i have heard people say. I still don't get it. I can see why people mught object on economic grounds (frankly, the economy experts dont agree so i don't think us lay people can be expected to understand) but i don't get what difference the picture or name of the notes make at all. THey could put pictures of Camels on there for all i care.

English girls? You mean the drunk overweight slappers wearing mini-skirts and crop tops in the middle of winter?

Luckily, all the best ozzie girls come to london... leaving the dodgy ones at home. Nice. :D

When i was in New Zealand, every mag had the royal family on it. Everyone there new more about them than me. Frankly, if they all vanished tomorrow i thik it would be a month or two until anyone actually noticed. :D

Contradictions do appear to be my speciality. However, as I have said before, there are times, in anger, when I have typed things which are not true... views which should not have been expressed. This is why I apologised earlier.

Well, this has all been rather fun, don't you agree? Watch this space for something which will shock you to the very foundations of your soul.

Oh... and Rule Britannia.

Yes, it is a bit tricky to display how you are feeling through text. Hence smilies etc. And plus things can be taken the wrong way, but theres always room for apology. ;)

This is post number fifty for -

>Steed, John.

However, this is not post number fifty for me. That is, the real person behind the keyboard and computer screen. For you have not been speaking to a new user of the forums, oh no.

YOU HAVE BEEN ADDRESSING HOLO-SIDIOUS!

Thought you had lost me, no? Well, you have now. This is my last, defiant act to show you all that, dispite warnings and IP address scans, people can still have multiple personalities.

At the end of the day, the REAL me is a young twenty-four year old Englishman living in London. Shortly, my computer will be destroyed, so this is the last of Holo-Sidious you will ever see.

And this time, it is final.

Rule Britannia, and God Save Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II!
