Wildstar
Hey dungbomb The Zone still works, but they moved the rooms. Try clicking here (Note: Logging in requires a .NET Passport, but you can get one for free)

CPT_Apollo
Well there's been a new development concerning XWA. We are now back on the Zone but with new and improved features and best of all we are now back in the mainstream.. NEW ZONE Steel and Honour always. André Friedrich
Tried it before (summer), got no connection to the zone (hell of clicks linked around and around and ...) Last night I got the right key, found the zone, real existing persons playing online - woooow! Clicked to a waiting game, game started - pop! - sitting back in the "waiting room". Next: I was - didn't want to be - that one to launch the party. Shall I continue? Clicked on launch - it launched, with me an some well-known stupid computer enemies. Nobody was able to connect on (sorry, I'm so sorry). Next: someone got my IPX-number and he tried to find me. Seems I am a shadow or some ghost or... (I swear I've seen me in a mirror this morning!) No error messages. I can play other multiplayer games like counterstrike (well I ne_ne_never play it). Any suggestions about that problem?
Gold leader
Do you have a firewall of some kind?
André Friedrich
Thanks Gold leader for that hint. But actually none of the possible filters and security-walls and whatever shall prevent evil to reach my PC is activated (I tested with lowest security and "all allowed") - it doesn't work. ** Zone support mailed, zone.com can only be played when the user has all admin-rights on his machine available, and also there must be open some special ports (five numbers)! ** My PC is part of an intranet (some offices and internet-computers connected to one lan and to the web, not restricted inside my windows-setup, but (eventually) restricted by the router, which coordinates all In-Out. Therefore I have to wait until "the allmighty networker" is willing to spend some minutes for me and my little problem... Meanwhile I clean my A-Wing and checkup batteries for future dogfighting... 8-[ Someone else reading this? Heard about the idea to get an editor for old "Rogue Squadron" Game? You can find a thread about at lucasforums! So long.

André Friedrich
Just one sentence about ports: first lookup in ZoneCom help ended in opening some 5 ports - not working! Then, after asking "online-moderators" there, I got more port numbers (actually all free slots in my router software are filled now with needed (freed) numbers!!). So I'll say: ports, ports, ports. And: different people told me, XWA is lagging all over the world, no chance to get it played without ghosts/lags? Sad but true. That's it for now. A. F. (alias Bhakar) Edited... P.S.: Some ideas I collected for enhancing conection speed... - stop (close) unneeded (background) tasks/windows - use a small size of your internet input buffer - increase (if possible) server update-rate - sounds/music always direct from harddisk (folder /wave) - reduce graphics (slightly, on slow systems/graphic cards) - try evaluation download of "befaster" (find it at: http://www.ekremdeniz.com) - do not create too much/big flightgroups at a moment - sometimes, a new internet log-in can change to a better connection, depending on daytime and provider
