BJP3E
I know why bother really asking this but I am bored. and I already know the first and formost way to make it go faster is to reduce quality but thats what I don't want to do LOL Ok at first I had a... PII 400 w/Win98 256 RAM 16MB Nvidia Card Quad Speed DVD Drive 12 Gig HD Only JO would run at mediumish settings. JA froze the PC when I installed it on that system Now I have a P4 2.20 Ghz w/400Mhz FSB w/ WinXP 512 RAM Onboard graphics 16MB(Upgraded to 128MB Geforce FX 5200) 40x Speed ROM Drive 40Gig HD JO Runs pretty darn good maybe 95% of the time at maxed settings They are Video Mode = 1600x1200 GL Extensions = On Color Depth = 32-bit Geometric Detail = high Texture Detail = Very high Texture filter = Trilinear Detail Shaders = On Video Sync = On Shadows = Volumetric Dynamic Light = On Anisotropic Filter = On Wall Marks = On Though I do keep it lower more often than not anyway For JA Video Mode = 1024x768 or lower Color Depth = 16-bit Geometric Detail = High Texture Detail = (Very) High Texture Quality = 16-bit Texture Filter = Trilinear Detail Shaders = On Video Sync = On Shadows = (None) Simple Dynamic Light = On Dynamic Glow = On Light Flares = On Wall Marks = On If I go much higher than that the game really gets choppy It just seems odd to me that JA has to run at such a lower setting even though my system specs are well above and beyond the minimum requirements and yet Jo runs so well. Anyone have a reasoning Just curious
tFighterPilot
Beats me... I have about the same computer as you do, and I use 800X600 to get decent framerate (though I use color depth 32bit and not 16bit) Anyway, since you have the about the same computer as I do, does the game freezes from time to time for no apparent reason to you too? Pooeypants
err, the FX5200 is basically a Gef mx with directx 9 support. Don't let Nvidia doop you into thinking it's a decent performing card...unless you're after a budget card and thats exactly what it is. So the performance you described sounds about right. Andy867
One thing that people hardly ever do that is a big boost is to TURN OFF Force Feedback which is ON by default. For some reason or another, this option reduces performance tremendously. Try lowering the res to that and then boost up the graphics if you still want, although an Fx5200 really wont perform as well, since it will be the bottleneck of performance for your PC
