Samuel Dravis
I posted this in the JA modeling forum also. This program used to cost $595 USD... You can get Truespace 3.2 for free. Acrylic
It seems cool, I'm downloading it, but what exactly is this program, and what does it do?
Samuel Dravis
It's a 3D modeling program. Check the maker's website, Caligari.com for more in-depth info.
RoxStar
So... could I model things for JA with it?

toms
truespace is about as user friendly as professional 3D modelling packages can get. its not as powerful as some though, such as Softimage or 3dsmax

Samuel Dravis
I was able to do some interesting stuff, just fooling around with it for 45 mins. When I tried using milkshape I couldn't do anything...I know, it's sad. You should go look at some of the tutorials it has under the help menu. They're interesting. I have alot of things I need to learn first before I use 3D programs. One kid at my school said he'd hook me up with a C++ book, so I can learn to understand Maya a little bit better, and become a better programmer, that willl be able to make games...and stuff. Nerd_Annhilator
Help me.... it won't run.. I click on the icon, and it just won't start up!
Samuel Dravis
That's strange. It works fine for me. Why don't you check out Caligari.com for more troubleshooting info. Acrylic - I'm trying to learn C++, modeling and mapping at the same time! It's impossible, I tell you. At least you can restrain yourself.
Nerd_Annhilator
well, I think it has something to do with the GIMP, the INIT file has been transformed into a gimp file, and now, I dunno
Samuel Dravis
I suppose you can try reinstalling truespace. See if that works.
ZH@o YuN
Would I be able to make a flyable ship with this program? ie. bones .gla files etc...
BongoBob
I'l give you the benefit of the doubt, but is this like getting a photoshop or other demo and using a keygen to get it is it? Is so, then you could be baned. I am just checking to make sure this isn't warez.
ZH@o YuN
No, the company has decided to do this on their own.
BongoBob
Ok, just checking. I hate warez. This sounds cool. I may check it out. Is it like 3DSMAX but simpler?

ZH@o YuN
Man I got fed up with this thing very quickly... You can't seem to view any info on an object if u import it, like modview or milkshape, and I hardly understand what anything does >< The tutorials don't help much either, clicking a load of buttons and expecting you to understand and follow it... And I don't like the interface, I like programs to be kept Windows-ish BLEH!
