Can I get a WTF? (wierd JKA issue)

So I took the advice from a kind gent from the technical support forum, and after loading JKA I set it's priority in the task manager to low. For some reason, this not only lowered my ping (to a playable level), and my framerates(all the way from 40-50 down to a steady 18 :p), but it also got rid of my WSAEDDRNOTAVAIL message.

I do believe this calls for WHAT THE FUG??

There has to be something that either I, or Raven can do, to reverse this...issue.

What is happening is that this user is trying to run a dedicated server, but also try to load the game up off the same pc, which is why he may have been told to lower the JAMP.exe priority to LOW. What is happening is though is that the JADEDMP.exe is using port 29070 to broadcast its presence, which is fine, however, that means that the 29070 port is already in use. So when he goes to load up JAMP.exe, which automatically defaults to 29070, it sees that the port is already open, but isnt advanced enough to try to use another port, which is where I come in and say that what you should do is make a short-cut to JAMP.exe and in this shortcut under the target area, it should like like this

"c:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy\Gamedata\jamp.exe"

change it to this (and make sure it reads exactly like this, but also dependent upon where you installed it to)

"C:\Program Files\Lucasarts\Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy\Gamedata\JAMP.exe" +set net_port 29071

This will have JAMP.exe use port 29071, which will allow you to host your dedicated game, but also join it. Another thing to do is to make sure that the JADEDMP.exe priority is set to Above Normal or High, so that the LAG does not become an issue. Also, make sure you dont have your graphic settings set ubelievably high, or it will cause a FPS performance issue.

[Edit:I misread your post, but that helps explain to others what you went through probably. The reason why the priority was set to LOW was so that the CPU wasnt fighting 2 resource-demanding programs at once. If anything, you could try raising the priority to Below Normal, but no higher than that if you are going to run a dedicated server]
