Havoc Stryphe
First things first, I do not have an X-box nor do I know anyone who does, so I have not seen or played KOTOR until the PC version. Secondly I'm married with a kid and work 40+ hours a week, so even though I have the game I have not had much time to actually play it, about 1 hour total playing time. Lastly, I do not want spoiled so I have stayed clear of the forums until now. So, all in all, I am very much unaware of some gameplay issues and have a few questions. If I get a 'RTFM' (Read the F****** Manual) I'm going to reach through my monitor and beat ya with a wet noodle! I only get a few precious moments to play the game and can't be bothered to spend it reading the manual . So without further ado... No matter where you force alignment goes, do your NPC companions stay with you? In BG, BG2 you could lose your party members if you went to far from their own alignment. Do your NPC members just Chastise you, but remain loyal? Or would Juhani leave you or Jolee not train you if you descend to far to the dark side? Are any of the NPC team members optional to get. I know that Carth and Bastila, must be in your party due to the story, but what of all the others? Can you screw up and lose the chance to get them to join your party? Like in Final Fantasy VII, Yuffie and Vincent were optional and took a certain 'approach' to succeed in getting them to join you. Or is it like the rest of the FF7 characters that they will join you party automatically as a way to further the plot? I'm only asking because Bioware, up until this point(BG, BG2, Icewind Dale1 &2, Planescape Torment, NWN) has made party members an optional choice to get thame to join your party. This 'party member management' is relatively new for Bioware and is more along the lines of FFVIII. How is death of a party member handled? Surely you can't just go to a 'temple' and have them 'raised'? This is Star Wars! Are they only 'swooned' or are they considered dead? Can you revive them? Or does the game end if any party member dies, not just the main character? Any help would be great, but remember... no spoilers please!
Eets
RTFM, NUB! Alright, here goes: First off, your party members will always be loyal to you until a certain "turning point" in the game. I'll leave it at that. There's no way to avoid having them in your group, but you can always choose not to bring em with you when you leave the hideout. You can only have two other companions at a time with you outside of the hideout (or ebon hawk). There's no "dying" per se in KOTOR. You or your party members simply collapse into unconsciousness if you lose all your Vitality Points and are revived once the combat is over. However, if ALL the party members (you and your two companions) collapse, you gotta go back to the main screen and load a saved game. Hope that answers your questions, ya old fart. P.S. Get back to GeeBee!
eidospsogos
actually there are at least two characters i have come across so far that you could have simply passed over if you wanted to. you could lose juhani or hk-47 being in your party simply by not proceeding the right direction in their sidequest, or by simply skipping the sidequest altogether(not possible for juhani, but very easy to do with hk-47)
