Lady Sythe
Hey all! Uhm...don´t know exactly where to put this...so, I´m sticking it here - in a new thread! Ok... a short time ago, I was listening to the few sountrack snippets...and I liked it so much I saved them. But I suddenly wondered if there was ever going to be a cd soundtrack? It would sound excellent on the stereo! So, is there ANY possibility for a cd soundtrack release? But if there is not....I´m gonng get all Sithly and I´m gonna come after someone *eg* Thanks! Samuel Dravis
I haven't heard anything about a CD, but you can burn your own if you have a CD-RW drive. All the music files are in the SWKotOR/streammusic dir, just rename them from .wav to .mp3. Then you can play them, burn them etc.
Com Raven
There are a few companys who produce soundtrack cds for their games, like Microsoft, Sega or Activision. However, LucasArts has never done this before, so I am afraid the chances may be slim. But as Samuel said, if you have a burner, there should be no prob
Burrie
It's a shame tho'. One of my favorite soundtracks are played during the cutscenes. I especially love the Escape of Taris, but unfortunately, the sound of the Ebon Hawk and the Sith Fighters totally drowns out the music... the same thing goes with the arrival on Dantooine. On the other hand, most of the music that is available is incredibly good. The Republic theme is rather inspiring and the final fight music simply rocks. *goes off to edit the soundtracks together for a Knights of the Old Republic Audio CD*
Astrotoy7
BioWare game music has been excellent, NWN ST is amazing, KOTORs is great as well... It was actually refreshing to hear some "new" music, not just edits and loops of the existing SW music. As cool as Jihn Williams' music is, it was starting to become a bit of a drain hearing them *over and over* again in every SW game !! MTFBWYA *goes of to make his own audio cd *
Lady Sythe
Uhm...yeah... ok I got a burner...so what else do I need. I don´t have the game...yet Eh...er... Guess I can´t make one then *shrugs* Hmmm... Or maybe *eg* I can get a good friend to do it for me! Now...let´s see if I can get her to copy the disc for me.... Thanks...but I still think there needs to be a cd sountrack. LS
eidospsogos
i think there is a little more to making a .wav into an .mp3 than just re-naming the file extension. .wav files are huge! while mp3's seem to be a little more compressed. which would imply the way the archives store data in each is different. and considering there are programs out there made to convert these files back and forth you may lose any quality the .wav originally had by simply changing the file extension. not to mention it may not work at all. it would be like just randomly changing a .mpg file extension to .avi. doing things like that will generally screw things up as each file format has individually unique properties. Samuel Dravis
I have burned a CD-R with the tracks from KotOR, and they are just renamed mp3s. I used nero5, and didn't have any problems. However, some of the files that are named wav are not mp3s and will not work. All the ambient and battle music, as well as some cutscenes will work renamed. Also, you can rename the dialog and it works too... Nice JKA taunts!
Astrotoy7
there are numerous wav to mp3 convertors...... I use the one that came with my copy of easycd5, but an extension of nero, called mp3pro will do it too...... just put 'wav to mp3' into a search engine and see what you get....... no, it is damn silly to rename the file extensions, as someone mentioned, high audio quality wav files are huge, whereas mp3 you can basically get a MB a minute or better MTFBWYA
Speedy_Lube
The files are going to be the same size regardless...
Darkblade
Well, there is a promotion CD by Jeremy Soule but it does not contain anything special. Mostly all area and battle themes with the good and evil endings.
