Samus Posted December 18, 2003 Posted December 18, 2003 Is it possible to get the framerate number on the screen while playing? I want to properly see the effect of altering different graphics options and such.
HertogJan Posted December 19, 2003 Posted December 19, 2003 I'd like to know that too! I know there is a console, but showing fps... For now, you can use fraps to show your fps, I believe you can find it at http://www.fraps.com
Samus Posted December 19, 2003 Author Posted December 19, 2003 A console! That's a start. How do I get that?
Com Raven Posted December 20, 2003 Posted December 20, 2003 hmm, in NWN you opened the console, and typed `fps shows 'em for a short while `trace fps shows 'em permanently
eidospsogos Posted December 20, 2003 Posted December 20, 2003 i think the only way to get the console is to enable cheats. i am not sure about that however. but to enable cheats, simply open the .ini for kotor, and under the game options section type the following. EnableCheats=1
Sam Fisher Posted December 20, 2003 Posted December 20, 2003 Oh yeah, it shows the console in the upper left corner. Kinda hard to spot, but its there.
Samus Posted December 20, 2003 Author Posted December 20, 2003 Thanks, but how do I open the console itself? (After enabling cheats)
eidospsogos Posted December 20, 2003 Posted December 20, 2003 the tilde key. you know this one: "~" and don't expect the usual 3d shooter type console. you'll merely have a prompt that looks like this: > followed by a flashing _
Samus Posted December 20, 2003 Author Posted December 20, 2003 Hm, that didn't work. The key with the ~ on my keyboard is located just to the left of ENTER, but I assumed that the key to the left of '1' would bring out the console. In just about all games, people say that you get the console by pressing the tilde~ key, and it alwys works when I press the button to the left of the '1' key. On my keyboard, that key is for the symbols | and §. It did not work in this game, though. Any other ideas?
eidospsogos Posted December 20, 2003 Posted December 20, 2003 yes, it should be the button to the left of the 1 key. the only thing i could think of to tell you to check for, is to make sure you left no spaces when typing EnableCheats=1. you must type it exactly like that, under the game options section of the .ini file. the first time i put it in i had a space that didn't belong. then the second time it worked and i didn't even know it because i was used to the console from games like quake. but all it is, is an arrow prompt, with a flashing cursor in the top left corner of the screen. if it's not working for you, i would have no idea why.
Samus Posted December 21, 2003 Author Posted December 21, 2003 Checked the .ini-file, but I've typed it right. absolutely nothing happens when I press the key to the left of 1 while in the game. I can't see a console. I tried to type something anyway, but all the keys do what they usually do in the game. I've tried other keys as well, but not every single one...I'll try some more.
