KotOR is near perfect in its current condition, except for one feature which - in my opinion - was extremely important given the storyline (esp. near the end of the 3rd quarter of the game) - a Jedi Academy - like character system. The lead character would have an actual voice of his or her own, with two or three seperate personalities of the player's choice which would be chosen at key points. The looks of course would be fully customizable. This might not be the gameplay option of choice of hardcore RPG gamers, but it would greatly add to the cinematic game experience, especially with a preset name for the lead character (as in Jedi Academy).

you can interpret it however you like. but the author of the poll meant that he had heard the original game was supposed to include this and this, but the finished version didn't. as stated once again in this quote:

Originally posted by n.kT3M4 Well I'am defiinatly going be saying yes it needs more viraty and I heard that Knights the orginal verison of it of crouse was going have four classes in it there was going be a bounty hunter class a Jedi class were you start out as a jedi so the guestion is where has it all gone now I want be able to be a sith/bounty hunter.

so that is what the author meant. you can try to make it into a worthy topic if you like, but everything being discussed is now completely off the topic of the original poll. :)

and the name galak i recognize, forgot his last name. sorry. :) i think the game is fine the way it is. a little more customization would have been nice. but essentially it is there as you find more types of armor etc.

and as far as the Expanded Universe is concerned, is this considered a time era? i thought exar kun etc fell in to the Expanded Universe. i could be completely wrong, but if someone would like to clear this up it'sd be great. i imagine Astrotoy could help with this. i liked things being set 50 years after the war with Exar Kun myself. though, i would have liked a little more exploration of yavin. :) and though the Old Republic comics covered time far before our game, the Old Republic itself lasted at least 20,000 years if not more. so they have a good span of time to work with. and i'm glad they chose later. as i would haqte to be a jedi in the first decade of the old republic running around using frozen blaster technology.

NNNNOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

:D

Seriously - I live by my character names! Hamin Lane is my Paladin, Willin Arndt my Sorceror (both Good), Galon Draal is my Jedi (light, male) and Trislyn Jast is my evil female character. Right now she is just a Jedi, but if I decide on an evil character for NWN or BG2, she will fill that role.

first of all. NO sequel has been confirmed for KOTOR anywhere. if you read the article from IGN, that "powderkeg", as it has been called over at the bioware forums, has a preface that will refer to the article as pure supposition.

Bioware has repeatedly denied that they will make either a sequel or an expansion pack.

I think the fact that is being missed here is that, as good as KotOR is and as much fun as a sequel would be to make, if we spent our resources making an expansion for KotOR then we would not have enough resources to make our secret projects.

If Bioware continued to make sequels and expansions for Baldur's gate, would there be a NWN? Would it have been worth another expansion to Baldur's gate to miss out on the NWN experience? Maybe for some of you but I'm betting that the majority of you are happier with the ways things turned out.

There are a lot of interesting things comming down the Pipeline here at Bioware that i wouldn't want to trade for an expansion pack to KotOR. I'm not saying that its wrong to want expansions to a great game like KotOR but if you knew what was comming down the pipe as Stanley and myself do, you would probably like what's comming better. More I cannot say.

so, there has been no official announcement of ANYTHING. but fortunatley for us all, Bioware also stated that sequels or expansions were a LucasArts call. so, considering the JediKnight series, i'd say we're safe.

so to summarize:

There are highly unsubstantiated rumours started by IGN and since then picked up by various others that Obsidian is working on KoTOR II.

There has been NO official word from either LucasArts or Bioware on the subject, although LucasArts would be the one to follow for that, not necessarily Bioware.

if anyone out there, has some ACTUAL source for this talk of a sequel please share. otherwise stop spreading these rumors as it pissing me the f@ck off. :) i hate getting excited only to look for info to find out none of it's true.

i very much agree with you in a certain sense. though the thing was i myself was not all that haqppy with most of the skins in jedi academy. but i do think being able to customize your character a little more in KotOR would have been a good thing. even if it were merely color changes of the original clothing styles i would have been happier.

as for the voice, i am not so sure it's really all that necessary for me. by my third time through i was clicking through those dialogues as fast as i could. :) so having your character speaking would just be one more voiceover to click through really fast. :)

but customization of clothing, that could also effect how other armor looked on you, would be nice. as well as custom hilts. i mean not even to the extent of JA, but to have a npc tell you how unique each one is and then have them all look exactly the same seemed silly.
